*reads* *loves* *huggles to pieces* *bakes you a cake for your troubles*
I love this story so much. I would pay good money to see it on the screen. That’s how much of a fan I am. It’s so perfect. There are so many nuances to Teyla and Rodney and everyone that just aren’t captured on the show. There’s so much more there.
Random story notes:
“…reasons Sam Carter is stupid, annoying, and incredibly hot and brilliant; food; we're all going to die; cats: the only worthwhile companions; and, 'Shit! Run!'"
*loves and squishes* If one were to capture Rodney in a brief snapshot, this is how one should do it.
"But she was still not from Earth, not quite one of them. They all did the best they could, but simple facts could not be changed."
Yes. Just yes. I hate the fact that Teyla and Ronon are treated as second-class, stereo-typed comic relief citizens. It makes my brain twitch in a bad way.
"Teyla was pretty sure it came down to, "Enough about Daniel Jackson already!"
Daniel is quite useful. The man knows 37 languages for pete’s sake, but I’d prefer the Wesley Crusher syndrome not to rear its ugly head.
"Rodney sensed her confusion and mimed rubbing his belly and looking wistful. "Oh! Hungry!" she said."
Hee! I just pictured Rodney as a Sim.
"She wanted to turn around and shout, Have you even tried to learn my language?"
Ditto for ESOL students.
Rodney’s learning the Anthosian language. *squee….*
"I," she said finally, "I was just wondering if you're aware that the network's translations are very stilted. I don't think it fully understands contractions."
*snaps fingers in understanding* So that’s it. That’s why Teyla sounds weird half the time, like she’s been taking English lessons from a certain yellow-skinned android.
