A second instalment would be fun

I've already thought of other things, so I'm sure I will at some point. It was fun to do!

(I'm almost tempted to do my own list. But no)

Aww. But that'd be so cool. Though I do appreciate the recs you've given me here. I've read some Wodehouse and some Waugh, but I should probably read more, and I'll look into the others--especially Lodge, who I know my mom likes. Now what I really need is more hours in which to read all these books!

BTW, my (rather gentle, I thought) criticism of Ulysses did come after I'd struggled all the way through it. Never has a single book made me feel more stupid. I need to do a second, hopefully guided, read-through. (And yes, I've read Portrait. I like it a lot, but not as much as Dubliners. My mom suspects that this is because I was not as easily shocked by the Catholic stuff as she was when she first read it. She was about 16, and she was scandalized. *g*)
