Amazing, amazing job you've done here. Every bit of it was wonderful. I love Rodney's daemon being a mouse because that's totally unexpected. I'd have expected a badger or howler monkey or something. *g* And John not having a bird was just perfect. The characterizations were lovely and you really nailed that feeling of wrongness when they encounter the man whose daemon has been taken from him and the people who don't even know what daemons are. The whole thing is excellent.

Now I've got a strong urge to reread HDM. *g*
