yeah, the daemons you gave rodney and john were unexpected...but then i think that everyone would maybe be surprised by the form their daemon settles on. cuz the images that john and rodney project are one thing, but their daemons are a reflection of the soul. i'm constantly discovering new things about myself (which is why i so do not know what form my daemon would take).
i like rodney's mouse, but i can also see him with a cat: kinda finicky and arrogant, but really furry and cute. and people meet him and expect him to have a totally loud and obnoxious daemon, and they're surprised by this cuddly cat thing (with claws). and she would be sorta calm and silent and unnerving and everyone who doesn't know rodney would be confused.
the interesting thing about this universe is that i think john and rodney might be really different if they had daemons. how would your personality change if you had a constant companion who *knew* you, who was you? and you were never totally lonely? and he/she always called you up on your shit? and this piece of your psyche was out there for the world to see?(huh. is this why john's so protective of nioke?)
