Yes, exactly *g* That makes so much sense of his characterisation.
And yes, I too identify with Rodney. In fact, he's pretty much the only one of all my fictional favourites where I really do identify. Admire, yes, respect, yes, identify? Not so much. But I have so many of Rodney's bad habits... and he's such a geek. It's great :) That's one of the things I never stop loving about SGA, the way the geeks get to be not just important characters, but the heroes. There really aren't many other books / films / shows where that's true.
OK. I don't know how you play oggs on a Mac (it's just another file format), so I'll have to rip mp3s over the weekend.
