Let the mocking commence!

Okay, I have finally started responding to comments on fic, even though I have something like a six-story backlog. ETA: Okay, closer to ten. *cries* (I know, I know. I am so sorry.) So if you receive a response from me and you're like, "Um, I don't even remember reading this!" well, uh. We can all pretend that LJ was just really slow in getting the comment to you (I like this plan!) or you can remind yourself that when I'm not writing fic, I spend my free time rescuing BLIND, IMPOVERISHED PUPPIES and that's why I'm so slow. No--really!

Okay, I just suck. So officially, this is the post where you can mock me. (Er, mock, not flame. I'm very sensitive. It's prolonged exposure to the puppies.) Or suggest fic comment-response techniques! (Tip #1--actually do it.) No, seriously, like ways to respond without sounding like Jennifer Garner's iTunes playlist. ("Thank you very much! I'm really glad you liked it!"*) Or just, y'know, pose questions about the nature of my parentage and the like. Whatever. ;-)

So, mock away! And yeah, I totally feel like I should link to this post in every comment I leave from now on...

*My sincerest apologies to anyone who has or will receive this exact response. I've mentioned that I suck, right?

*would mock but is giggling too hard*

I know it feels silly just saying "thank you! thank you! thank you!" all the time, but people don't usually check what you've said to other people (I don't think... ;) ) And if it's a choice of "thank you" or nothing, I think people would prefer the "thank you" *g*

Anyway, yeah. You've been writing cool fic instead of commenting back! I know which I would have voted for if you'd asked ;)

Why didn't I phrase it like that from the beginning? "Look, ladies--it's like this. D'ya want the fic or the comments, 'cause you can't have both, capeesh?"

Seriously, though: I know a thank you is better than nothing, which is why I am trying to be better. Even if it makes me feel like a retarded robot. *sigh*

*pats the robot soothingly*

Well, some people do make that equation :) Particularly people who get lots and lots of comments. I know [livejournal.com profile] rageprufrock said recently that she can answer comments or finish "Boom Boom Room", and honestly, I don't think there's anyone who would say "I want a thankyou instead of John-and-Rodney-and-a-kitten!" *g*

Ahahaha, dude, I always read the response to other people's fb. But I don't do it like, "OMG, LJ USER=WHATEVER GOT A NICER COMMENT THAN ME." I mean, I'm full of myself, but I'm not that bad.

And no, seriously. "Thank you!" is totally a good enough response for me; I mean, jeez, the author just spent all that time writing an amazing story; obviously ze is in not obligated to waste words on fb response.

(And I mean, if I demand lengthy response, I'll leave lengthy fb ;) Nothing quite promotes discussion like actually sayin' stuff.)

Heh :) Well, sometimes I read other comments and replies, but yeah, like you said, not in a comparative way. And I'm not going to cry because she said the same thing to everyone! *g*

And I mean, if I demand lengthy response, I'll leave lengthy fb ;) Nothing quite promotes discussion like actually sayin' stuff.

Yeah, exactly. If someone writes an essay, then, yeah, you kind of have to respond decently *g* But a one or two line comment? A one line reply should be enough, most of the time.
