...dude, you have the best comments threads in the world.
Really? *preens*
I do is accidentally out myself as a TOTAL GEEK by being unable to not answer random questions and statements of ignorance
Ah, yes. I do this too. It's Hermione syndrome, and there IS NO CURE!
mentioned Spirit but couldn't remember the other name, and my mouth opened and "Opportunity!" came out, and everyone looked at me funny
Hee. And OMG, have you seen this (http://www.livejournal.com/users/colbert_feed/23043.html)?
What have you tried, if anything? Because some of his stuff is easier than others.
I tried Diamond Age, actually. But this is why I'm a bad sci-fi reader: if right from the start there are a bunch of terms I don't understand, and I have to put lots and lots of effort into figuring out the world, I get frustrated and give up. I'm like, "Bitch, this is supposed to be my FUN reading! If I wanted to be this fucking confused, I'd go back to reading Dryden."
Actually, Dryden's not that confusing--more like "boring" and "mean to Milton." *cuddles Milton, which he would surely not have appreciated*
