Oh god, this ripped me up. The casual reality of the chips just sucker-punched me. And John and Rodney struggling against it, the casual touches, the forced closeting. I hurt for them, a physical ache in my gut. Honestly, if I didn't trust you as a writer, I'm not sure I could have finished reading, it hurt so much.

And it made me desperately want to go out and find a girl to kiss.

I was right to keep going though because the ending makes up for it all. The triumph and the hope and this line: “I hope there is so much gay sex going on in this country right now,” he said. “Seriously: sodomy everywhere.”
