Classic Movie Ficathon?

[livejournal.com profile] forcryinoutloud and I are thinking of running an SGA Classic Movie Ficathon, in which participants would get to pick a film from the '30s-'60s and write an SGA story based on the movie itself, or extrapolated from the summary and taken in the crazy direction of your choice. (The ones I'm really hoping get written? The Shop Around the Corner, His Girl Friday, North by Northwest, The Searchers...well, and loads more, really.) So, what we want to know is: would you all be interested in something like that?

[Poll #704713]

Any other thoughts? Questions? Suggestions? I've never run a ficathon before, so I'd really appreciate any advice/words of caution/hysterical pointing-and-laughing...

I hadn't even thought of that! Brilliant. Totally brilliant.

Man, the possibilities with this ficathon! I am wildly in love with the idea.

The possibilities are killing me, too! I WANT TO WRITE THEM ALL.

Bringing Up Baby is on there, BTW. I hope someone does it. I hope it involves a tame Wraith.

Heee! That would, in fact, be totally awesome.

Possibly the best part of this ficathon would be having to watch the assigned movie again. Possibly again and again, depending on the movie. ;)

Whee, Philadelphia Story's on there as well. Really, I should just put: "anything starring Cary Grant."

Or Katherine Hepburn. Or Jimmy Stewart.

I hope we can make this work. Because as an idea? It WINS.

It SO wins. I've been thinking about it all night at work. LOL Hitchcock would be so fun to do with these characters, and of course the romantic comedies, the cheesy sci-fi movies of the 50s (The Day the Earth Stood Still! The Wraith as misunderstood peacekeepers!), the possibilities are endless. I hope this challenge works out, but now I'd probably try my hand at this idea anyway. LOL
