Roommates in Los Angeles?
Hey, are any of you L.A. people looking for a roommate? I'm hoping to find a place to live somewhere on the west side, hopefully fairly centralized (my last couple of places have been near Wilshire, and I've liked that). I'm pretty open, though. I'm gonna try craigslist next, but I really would prefer to live with a fannish person who will understand my crazy ways.
Anyway, if you're looking for somebody, or know someone who is, please comment or e-mail me (trinityofone@livejournal.com). And please feel free to ask me any questions about my personal habits, star sign, thoughts on yaoi... Also, feel free to link people here. Thank you!

You were off being a glamorous jetsetter! That aside, a pity indeed.
As for Craiglist, my advice is to be careful and not rush into any new living situation (even though I know you're probably tired of kicking it at your parents' house); don't room with people that seem desperate to find a roommate/fill an empty room in their apartment--chances are, they are financially strapped and needed someone yesterday otherwise they'll be evicted for being late on rent. Don't room with someone who works from home or has a radically different schedule from you. I assure you, it gets very annoying to come home from a long day at work or school and have a roommate that just sits at home on the couch all day watching TV and running up the utility bills.
Not to sound Machiavellian, but play people off each other, don't commit yourself right away, because people who are looking for someone to fill a room in their apartment will play you--they'll make it seem like they have a million people just dying to write them that check for the rent + security deposit and you need to make a decision immediately or else have the apartment snatched out from under you. It's just often not the case; even if you miss out on one seemingly great living situation, another one will eventually come along. Don't feel as though you need to find a place immediately or let anyone pressure you into signing a lease or handing over a check.
Also, people are strange and it's hard to figure them out right off the bat. Some are obviously nutty, but others are much better at hiding their assiness and psychosis so my advice would be to proceed with caution when using Craigslist. A lot of it is really just pure dumb luck. I wasn't so lucky the first time (I rushed into it though and felt like I had to find a place right away), but I lucked out the second time--my boy roomies are great.
