Cute Guy alert!

Dude, the Cute Guy at work just said that he thought my outfit was "cool"! I do not know what this means in Guy Speak, but, but...I am excited! Cool! He said cool! Me, and cool, in the same sentence! Cute Guy!

*flails ridiculously*

*admires your ridiculous flailing*

Ridiculous flailing...done while wearing a cool outfit!

[identity profile] volari.livejournal.com 2006-08-23 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
::glee::

I have no idea what that means in guy speak either, but it sounds like it's good!

Just as long as you waited for him to leave before you flailed...

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-08-23 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I did a little dance by the photo copier—but only after he'd gone around the corner!

The Guy Speak...confuses me. But I figure a cool outfit can't be a bad thing!

:D:D

'Cool' is definitely flail-worthy.

Oh, man. So is your icon!

From my years of experience, I know that this can only mean one of two things:

1) He "likes" you.
2) He's gay.

You pick.

Just kidding...

...Because there is a third option, this being Los Angeles:

3) He actually has fashion-sense, and he likes your outfit.

[identity profile] kaizoku.livejournal.com 2006-08-23 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Not that I'm much of an expert on guyspeak, but imho it could be (1) he thinks it's a cool outfit or (2) he's thinking "hmm, how to strike up conversation? Ooh, a compliment! I can do that!"

Now I must ask... what are you wearing? ;-)

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-08-23 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I honestly don't think it's 2, although that notion did occur to me. It very well may be 3. But *sigh* 1 would be nice!

Of course, even if it were 1, I still wouldn't know what to do about it...

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-08-23 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
The essential question! A very old vintage DKNY dress that used to belong to my aunt; it's very long, a deep wine color, with small white and red flowers and buttons up the front. I have a black belt low on my waist (in part because it's too big) and black and maroonish shoes with, in my opinion, overly pointy toes.

So, just some stuff I had that, when thrown together, is almost stylish.

Does that work for or against me in the "likes me" sweepstakes?

*smiles at attempts to translate Guy Speak*

I'm apparently going to be spending a couple nights in Dublin in November. I figure you may know some good hotels or haunts over there. Cause honestly...I have no idea what there is in that city.

[identity profile] kaizoku.livejournal.com 2006-08-23 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, well the dress sounds lovely, but then I'm sure you look lovely in it too. Sorry, not very helpful, I'm afraid!

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-08-23 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
TRANSLATE IT FOR ME, DAMMIT! Or what is your use as a Genuine Guy?

I am holding the travel information hostage until you do.

[identity profile] sonofzeal.livejournal.com 2006-08-23 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm going to need a bit more information. How did he say it, and where was he looking when he did?

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-08-23 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately, I was looking down at the copier when he said it, but his tone was pretty casual—"Hey, that's a cool outfit"; I think he sort of peered around the corner at me, did a quick eye-sweep, and then when I looked up startled and said, "Oh! Thanks!" he grinned and disappeared. It's always annoyingly hard to see his eyes because of his baseball cap.

That's...not very helpful, is it?

[identity profile] sonofzeal.livejournal.com 2006-08-23 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
It's somewhat vague, but the peer-and-sweep is certainly a good sign, as is the grin. You've gotten his attention, so now you just need to capitalize on that.

[identity profile] crownglass39.livejournal.com 2006-08-23 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I've been with my husband for..um...12 years now and I still don't know what he's talking about half the time, so I can't help you with translation; however, it sounds good so congrats!!

Freudian typing slip?

You could have totally passed that off as intentional. ;-)
