And I never had time to comment! :( Not that I had very much to say, admittedly, except that this is as gorgeous and fucked-up as I have come to expect from the Puddlejumpers *g*. And I was sorry that we didn't get to see Ronon and Teyla.
I always love the layers of identity and masks and admissions and secrets that they all have. The shifts from "Shep" to "John" and back, the glasses (as always), the karaoke and the way that no one except Rodney really sees John when he takes the glasses off...
John’s face went momentarily and uncharacteristically slack as he looked at the security the venue had provided for this little late night jaunt. “They just keep sending ‘em in...”
*giggles* You are eeeeevil!
a place called Limón
And that bit really made me laugh. Poor Rodney. Also, don't think I didn't notice that you'd named yet *another* album from that song *g*.
"Do you know what I wish I had?" he said. "A GPS. Or even better, some sort of handheld tracking device..."
Heh. And also, aww.
The reporter was waiting for them by the door. His eyebrow, already arched, peaked higher when his gaze slid from John's slumped and now shielded body to Rodney's hairline. "Oh, so that's why you wear—"
"Yes," said Rodney, tightly. "Thank you."
Poor Rodney. He gave John his hat! Because it's more important to hide John than himself.
The ending is lovely. The reporter seeing too much, and choosing to step away, to become complicit (I'm assuming that he's not the one who will break the story, naturally). And awwwwww, Rodney. For all he's just as involved in John's need for therapy as John is, I do feel desperately sorry for him. And I'm still looking forward to seeing more of this universe :)
PS Do you still want to go properly mixed-media for the big news-report-story-breaking-thing of which we spoke? And if so, are you working on that already or not? Because obviously it would take quite a while to get the whole thing together, I would guess...
