Bleh.

Man, I have felt so bored and boring lately. Thank God [livejournal.com profile] neery was here, but now she's gone away and I am sad. *pout* Also, I called around to about 80 million people in an effort to get SGA's S2 release date, only to find out that it's been pushed back to next year. (The person who had the info very much amused me, however, by announcing, "But Stargate SGI is coming out next week!" Yes, SGI. Like CSI's cousin in space?)

So anyway, yes: *pout*

I'm stuck doing photo research and I need a brainless distraction. Lyrics meme:

Unrelated: Neil Gaiman's new short story collection came out yesterday, but I haven't gotten to read it yet and I brought it to work with me apparently because I am a masochist and I really want to read it and it's sitting right here STARING at me and why oh why can't it be "Read Short Stories at Work Day" today? PLEASE?

ETA: And 'cause I've just been wondering about this: have all of the Bulwer-Lytton winners received their prizes? It's been more than a month since the first bunch went out, and a couple weeks since the second. I hope they've arrived!

Ahh, [livejournal.com profile] redfirecracker just beat you! But man, there are a lot of versions of that song. (The Flamingos: still the creepiest!)

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-09-27 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup! That version is often used to signify creepiness in today's movies and TV. It dates back to the '50s, and I always wonder—did people find it creepy then? Or is there something about that particular sound (another example would be Johnny Mathis' "Wonderful, Wonderful," which is severely creepy) that has since translated into "creeptastic"?

Well, the changed distributors, but still. Who the hell knows?

I got mine! THank you!

[identity profile] girly-curl-3.livejournal.com 2006-09-27 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Damn! What IS it? It's the other one, their other slow song...wait--wait--AH! Head...Head Over Heels! Yes. That has to be it.

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-09-27 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! *is pleased*

[identity profile] roaringmice.livejournal.com 2006-09-27 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I totally got my book, and thank you. I'm about halfway through reading it. I can understand why you liked it.

NG has a new book out? Squee!!!

Hardcover, probably. [Hold squee, check library first]

[identity profile] elfiepike.livejournal.com 2006-09-27 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Like CSI's cousin in space?

um. can i watch that show, too? :D!

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-09-27 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed! But sadly, [livejournal.com profile] redfirecracker beat you to it. This game is harsh, man!

[identity profile] girly-curl-3.livejournal.com 2006-09-27 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw, shucks!

[identity profile] no-detective.livejournal.com 2006-09-27 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
A-ha! Is #1 Moby? Extreme Ways?

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-09-27 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! You win at...something. *g*

[identity profile] not-sally.livejournal.com 2006-09-27 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
4- Out of Control, U2

[identity profile] no-detective.livejournal.com 2006-09-27 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Um... maybe at persistence in humming that line to myself at the office over and over and over again until I finally remembered the next lyric and then the rest of the song?

(Which I really REALLY love, btw.)

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-09-27 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
My mind is fuzzy: did you pick the Feynman? Because I *heart* Feynman.

The new Gaiman is the short story collection Fragile Things. In hardcover, sadly. I'm ashamed to admit I treated myself to it.

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-09-27 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! I was waiting for someone to get that!

[identity profile] not-sally.livejournal.com 2006-09-27 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
heh, I was surprised nobody had got it yet. I mean, it's your meme, U2 was a given.

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-09-27 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
You should have seen me with [livejournal.com profile] blue_raven's latest version of this, desperately trying to remember that something was "Under the Milky Way" by The Church. V. similar.

"Extreme Ways" is a totally cool song. Very Sheppard, IMO.

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-09-27 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
So true! And I actually cheated on this a bit, because otherwise it would have been all U2, or nearly. I try to be eclectic, really, but maybe 1/5th of the songs on my iPod are by U2...

[identity profile] no-detective.livejournal.com 2006-09-27 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahahaha, yes! That was priceless.

I did have an uncomfortable moment in that scene when Georgie's sisters are all over JF's character. I totally expected them to ask if they could clone him. Now, that would have freaked me out...

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-09-27 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
That would be a pretty cool show, actually. And now I want to write the one where Rodney and John are retired and living in Atlantis but are not really allowed to do anything, so they solve crime. And John has a war wound (in the leg—probably). And Rodney plays the piano a lot.

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-09-27 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh no! Pouty John!

[identity profile] no-detective.livejournal.com 2006-09-27 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Isn't it interesting, how a bit of exasperation can add flavor to a boring day at the office? Heh.

And OMG YES. So Sheppard. Well, a darker version than canon, I suppose, but YES. And I'd totally stand in line for THAT. *flails*
siria: (sga - david is a sexass)

[personal profile] siria 2006-09-27 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
You would have been freaked out at the thought of more Joe Flanigans on your screen!? *g*

[identity profile] girly-curl-3.livejournal.com 2006-09-27 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Ok, here's Loving Rodney instead. ;)
