Mugging for the Camera

Still haven't heard about the you-know-what. Some distraction, in pictorial form:

Last night I went to take out the garbage and saw a brilliant rainbow in the sky—really rare for L.A.

This is the view from the alley at the back of my building, where the dumpsters are, and where I first looked up and went, "Wow!"

Coming back into the courtyard, I could see the rainbow touching down to the east as well.

The rainbow was actually so huge that I couldn't fit the whole thing in one shot! Still, it's really not every day that you get to see rainbows and palm trees together.

[livejournal.com profile] wychwood made me the most incredible birthday present this year. She started out with an ordinary mug from Marks & Spencer...

(This is her before photo, which she took, which is why it's of so much better quality than mine.)

The pilot figure in the first and last photos inspired her to use paint to alter (and vastly increase the awesome) of the other figures. So now I have a mug boasting the likenesses of:

And the Doctor (the one and only) <--ETA: *realizes what a dumb comment this is* It's Ten, okay? *feels lame*

How incredibly awesome is that? *loves it* (And yes, if you're noticing that there are some cracks in the handle, that's 'cause my cranky mail lady broke it in two cramming the package into my tiny tiny mailbox. Thanks, USPS. Or really, thank god for superglue!)

Okay, those are all the pictures I have ATM. I guess I can work on my booklog, which I am ridiculously behind on. *waits anxiously by the phone like a besotted teenager*

I've never met a mailman so apathetic as the one here. I've had some problems in the past, but PB really are awful. It took them 4 days to deliver my laptop which I paid an extortionate amount for 24 hour shipping for. And when I ordered a stack of stuff from Play rather than get the individual packets, I got a box full of them at the end of the week, including several that were for various other addresses in my general area. And getting PB to collect them and deliver them - pfffft. I still had them up until about a month ago when I gave up and decided to keep them, knowing that most likely Play had redelivered them by now. As far as I'm concerned, I did at least attempt to get them collected...

If I had those bottles, I don't think I could drink the contents. Way too pretty. Remind me of these little vases you can get from Ikea over here that come in about 20 different colours. Had some of those, but they got broken when I moved in.

I love your building so much, I'm almost jealous. If you saw where I live, you'd understand why.
