Lord, what fools...!

1. Does anyone know if there's a community for Scrubs downloads? I miss Zach Braff!

2. I realized that I don't have any icons of Rodney smiling or looking happy--I'm all about the moody, angsty shots for some reason. Can anybody point me to some happy!Rodney icons? He's got such a pretty smile...

3. What is the general fandom opinion about giving first names (or last names) to characters that don't canonically have them? I try to avoid it as much as possible, but if you're seriously writing about these characters, it eventually becomes necessary. In their wonderful fics The Sincerest Form of Flattery and Identification, [livejournal.com profile] z_rayne and [livejournal.com profile] lamardeuse have set a precedence for Lorne and Parrish being called Nick and David, respectively (ETA: apparently, this originally came from [livejournal.com profile] casspeach--*tips hat*); this is one case where I really like there being a fanon rule, because there is no canon one, and it weirds me out when it's like, "Oh, he's Bob this week, is he?" I dunno, maybe I'm just a whore for consistency, but. Thoughts?

4. Hey, you know what I need? Tips on how to seduce my new Irish Literature tutor. He looks like Dylan Moran, he's SCOTTISH, he's cute and adorable and I want him ON ME. I'm serious. Really, really serious. How does one go about seducing someone? Like, in real life and not in my silly two-bit porn. EDUCATE ME.

*cough*

5. Yeah, and does anyone have Franz Ferdinand's You Could Have It So Much Better that they could upload for me? I'd be happy to upload something else in return. Or, um, I could add the fic prompt of your choice to my already lengthy backlog. The choice is yours!

...

His name is Peter. I...both hate and love feeling like this. Hate because nothing ever comes of it, but love because...I never stop hoping. Never.

I believe Jon did a stint on Celebrity Jeopardy a few years ago... and totally kicked ass, of course. He's dreamy. Seriously, Jon is my TV Husband. Not to be confused with my TV Boyfriend or my TV Lover. *sigh* I really watch way too much TV. It's kind of sad.

Snagged the Franz and am listening now; thank you so, so much! Please let me know if there's anything I can do for you!

Ditto. Marcus Lorne even *sounds* okay, but Lorne doesn't *look* like a Marcus to me. I like Michael. I like Nick. And I'm used to Nick by now because of the stories by z_rayne and casspeach.

THIS JUST IN: SLOD = IDIOT.

*re-reads own story*

I didn't actually call him "Michael". I almost called him "Michael", but then decided I preferred "William". *headthwap*

Hmmm. I looked through my Mckay icon folder, and the only 2 icons I have of him smiling are this one ::points up:: by me and this one:

Image which is by [livejournal.com profile] thegrrrl2002
which is kind of a smile

Now I'm going to have to find some. . . .

Okay, has this story been posted yet? Because I am addicted to Lorne fiction, and I don't remember reading one by you. If it has, could you point me toward it? ;)

Absolutement!

Um, I mean, yes. I'm supposed to do research at the library and go shopping tomorrow, which probably means I will sit around in my pajamas all morning and watch porn. But I can be ready as soon as you are (assuming the download is); just text me. And, erm, I will try to wait for you. I WILL wait for you. Because I suck at lying worse than Rodney, and you would know I was faking it if I, say, tried unconvincingly to act surprised. ;-)

I bet you can guess which part of your post I'm going to comment on.

The tight/revealing/sexy clothing suggestion is good, but that's not really the thing that does it for most guys. In a dance club or something, the clothing can be everything cause it's the signal for "hey, I want to leave with someone I didn't show up with." But you're seeing this guy in school, so you need a whole different tactic.
I'll tell you what works to get the message of "I like you" across to even the most dimwitted guy. Spend lots and lots of unnecesary time around him. Go to his office hours whenever you possibly can. Talk to him for as long as you can during each office hour and before or after class. (Probably not before and after, that'd be weird) If you can't make his office hours, arrange some with him anyway. Your reasons don't have to be very good. You could ask stupid questions about Yeats if you want. Just make sure to ask lots and lots of them.

If you spend enough time around him, he'll figure it out. Then start throwing in the sexy clothes too. After that... I don't know. I don't usually have girls go farther than that with me.

Tell him that [something he can fix] is broken at your apartment and when he comes by...

Oh, not in a silly two-bit porn. Well, shit then, I'm out.

As for the last names thing, occasionally I see that pop up in CT stuff, and there was actually a thread about last names on the Compendium recently. I'd say if you aren't going for anything to serious, go ahead, use a last name that sounds good. As long as you don't think it's now official. There have been problems in the Guilty Gear community with "Kuro Ky" who isn't a real character, just one the community made up, that they insist on trying to find. It's a little sad.

Also, there's a lovely bit of aliteration in DQVIII. I'll have to jot it down for you at some point, it's about 2-3 lines long. Mmm....regressive gaming...

I can't help you with seduction but I'm damn good at getting noticed. Not always by the right guy mind you...

1. Yes to the form fitting/flattering clothing. Slutty isn't necessarily what you should aim for but making an effort to look nice every time you're likely to meet him will not only help him notice you, but also help you feel more attractive and confident.

2. I already know from your journal that you're intelligent, funny, and interesting. That's why I'm stalking you in the first place:] Just don't be so enthralled with this guy that you're not going to be able to be yourself around him. Should you succeed in getting to know him he will have flaws. He'll still be a cute guy with a scottish accent, but also flawed  Try to know him as a person and don't be so nervous that you aren't yourself. Yourself is wicked cool.

3. Everyone wants to be listened to and appreciated. If you can get him into conversation outside of Irish Literature really listen and give eye contact. Flirty eye contact as described above is v. good but just letting him know that you're interested is important. Sense of humor and common interests a plus. How many people do you have around you that care about what you have to say and laugh at your jokes? How important are they to you?

4. Important part. Make yourself known to him as a sexual being. No you don't have to strip naked and give him a lap dance:P Subtle is better. Just make a positive comment about his appearance. It can be either in a complimentary or a joking manner, but let him know that you could think about him in that way and it'll register that he can consider you in the same light. For example, if you're talking about your social lives and you mention your cute male friend who is in a band, grin, laugh a little, noticeably look him up and down, "I could see you doing that, but you'd have to let me (sing back-up, be your manager, play tambourine)"

5. Yes, spend time with him. Use your judgment as to how much. Flirt. Move slightly into his personal space, no need to hang all over him but the next time you're standing together notice how far away you stand and take another step forward. Sharing of personal items such as food, candy, and work supplies is also good. Friendly teasing between you is always a good sign of progress.

I won't set myself up as some kind of love guru. I'm awful at maintaining relationships but so far pretty frequently I've been noticed and asked out to the point where coworkers asked wtf I did. My aim however is far from perfect often landing in the vicinity of his best friend and the guy sitting on the *opposite* side of me in class :le sigh: But still all of the above are the things that occurred most frequently prior to a relationship. Hope it helps and that I didn't ramble into creepy territory but you said "seriously" so... ta da?

We have a plan! I must spend an hour in the library before lunch, and then at least an hour afterwards, but as soon as I have managed to fool myself into thinking that I have enough work done for one day, I shall text you.

I am about to depart for the library myself--maybe I'll see you there. But yeah, text me...though the episode hasn't gone up yet, so...

And OMG: BEST ICON EVER!!!

The only way he could be more french in that icon is if somehow he was smoking.

Actually, I like the idea of Marcus. I like the idea of Lorne having a dodgy, dorky first name that doesn't suit him *at all* -- which is why absolutely everyone refers to him by his surname.

Of course, I partially blame this on [livejournal.com profile] scribewraith who was discussing a potential highschool AU and declared that Lorne's first name would have to be something really, really embarrassing to make him go by "Lorne" instead. (Her suggestion of "Washington" still makes me giggle.)
