Notify the committee!

Scene: [livejournal.com profile] trinityofone's Fables tutorial, a little after nine a.m.

Tutor: Let's talk about symbols. Say you have a candle. What does that represent?
[livejournal.com profile] trinityofone: A penis.
Student Who is NOT Batshit Insane: Light.
[livejournal.com profile] trinityofone's brain: No talking. Ever. Again.

Y'all wish you were in my class, doncha?

Also, GIP. [livejournal.com profile] siriaeve makes the bestest icons, doesn't she? Yes.

Hah! I hate those moments of 'Ooops, that was my outside voice, wasn't it?' If it helps, I'd probably have said the same.

That icon fills me with glee.
wychwood: "I can't believe you just..." / "Wait, you know what? I can. I totally can." (SGA - McShep disbelief)

laughs hysterically and embarrassingly right in the middle of the computer lab

I feel so sorry for you! Those "straight-to-mouth-without-brain-intervention" moments are always such fun...

*offers comforting chocolate*

Ahahahha I have so totally done the exact same thing! (Well, the reference was a lamp-post, but still. Heh.) And I actually think being in your class would rock quite a lot.

[identity profile] violin-road.livejournal.com 2006-01-18 11:01 am (UTC)(link)
... I do wish I were in your class.

[identity profile] cimness.livejournal.com 2006-01-18 11:08 am (UTC)(link)
ahahahahahah.

i kind of do wish i was in your class.

i think that kind of thing all the time, but i never say it out loud...

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-01-18 11:22 am (UTC)(link)
Seriously, this HUGE IMAGE of Rodney and John standing next to one of those ridiculous taper candles from 'The Brotherhood' popped into my head, and the next thing I knew...

I feel so sorry for my tutors: either I'm trying to seduce them, or force them into early retirement. Or both.

At least I have gleeful [livejournal.com profile] siriaeve icons. *g*

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-01-18 11:24 am (UTC)(link)
With a different tutor for the same class, I said something about theory being a "giant wank session."

Oh yeah. I rule.

*offers comforting chocolate*

The day someone figures out how to YSI chocolate will be a very happy day indeed.

[identity profile] stellahobbit.livejournal.com 2006-01-18 11:26 am (UTC)(link)
You said that out loud?

*hands you a gold star and a 'Get Out Of Tutorial Free' card*

[identity profile] mandysbitch.livejournal.com 2006-01-18 11:27 am (UTC)(link)
Dude, it is *totally* a penis and everyone was thinking it even if you were the only one saying it. Surely these idiots have *heard* or Freud even if they haven't read him.

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar but most of the time it's a freaking penis!!!!

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-01-18 11:28 am (UTC)(link)
Vice versa! Though I think there must be a law somewhere, prohibiting too many fangirls from attending the same university--it would disrupt the natural (boring) order of the universe or something.

Hmm, lampposts. My brain:

Lamppost-->Narnia-->Tumnus-->Faunsex.
wychwood: Rodney's having a bad day (SGA - Rodney bad day)

[personal profile] wychwood 2006-01-18 11:29 am (UTC)(link)
With a different tutor for the same class, I said something about theory being a "giant wank session."

...yeah. These days, in fandom that's practically lost the sexual overtones, but I doubt that's obvious to mundanes *g*

The day someone figures out how to YSI chocolate will be a very happy day indeed.

*adds to To Do list*

Have you ever read Neal Stephenson's The Diamond Age? They can kind of do that.

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-01-18 11:30 am (UTC)(link)
By our powers combined...oh, what wonderful chaos we would create!

*laughs, somewhat maniacally*

[identity profile] violin-road.livejournal.com 2006-01-18 11:32 am (UTC)(link)
I think quite possibly we could send everyone into early retirement.

[identity profile] violin-road.livejournal.com 2006-01-18 11:33 am (UTC)(link)
Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar but most of the time it's a freaking penis!!!!
I think that is my new life motto.

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-01-18 11:34 am (UTC)(link)
Sometimes I suspect that my internal monologue is broken. Or maybe just leaky.

Fangirl University would be the best place ever, wouldn't it? Hmm. *ponders funding and land grants*

[personal profile] birdsflying 2006-01-18 11:36 am (UTC)(link)
Ahahaha. After that image, i'd totally say it was justified.

I'm terrible for thinking uncharitable things about the brainpower of my classmates during lectures and then realising that some of them have been vocalised (and in some cases, the lecturer is trying not to laugh) and everyone's looking at me. Oops?

Hee! My Mr Fantastic!Rodney icon was done by her too and it also fills me with glee.

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-01-18 11:37 am (UTC)(link)
Out loud, not loudly, thank goodness. Of course, it was only eight of us in a tiny, tiny room, so everyone still heard me--they could just politely pretend to ignore it.

'Get Out Of Tutorial Free' card

*treasures it* 'Cause yeah--did I mention that this class is at 9 a.m.? I need, like, 11 hours of sleep every night--that is way too early for me. ;-)

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-01-18 11:38 am (UTC)(link)
So the candle is a penis and I am a beacon of truth? *likes this theory*

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-01-18 11:40 am (UTC)(link)
...Except for the few people we manage to convert, and they could be, like, our minions or something. Or apostles. I meant apostles.

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-01-18 11:45 am (UTC)(link)
These days, in fandom that's practically lost the sexual overtones, but I doubt that's obvious to mundanes

Yeah. The tutor just looked at me, and then she said, "Um. Does that mean quite the same thing in your country?"--meaning America. And I said, "No, in my country it's subtly different"--meaning fandom.

Or maybe we just blinked at each other for a few seconds and then ignored the entire incident.

I fail at Neal Stephenson reading. I fail at cyberpunk in general--it's like, "Whoa, two pages in and I'm already intensely confused!" *shame*

[identity profile] mandysbitch.livejournal.com 2006-01-18 11:47 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. And the John in your icon looks like he just farted (have I mentioned this before? I'm sure I've thought it before...).

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-01-18 11:51 am (UTC)(link)
In the same tutorial this morning, another student was "explaining" the line of kings between Elizabeth I and Charles II and getting loads of things wrong--"And then Charles I escaped to Belgium!" Um, no--and the tutor and I exchanged major WTF? looks. It made me a feel a lot better, especially since I'm American and have "no reason" to know any of this.

But yeah, it probably would have been bad if I'd verbalized the full extent of my reaction, which started with, "Why" and ended with "are you such a moron?"

My Mr Fantastic!Rodney icon was done by her too and it also fills me with glee.

I recognized it. *g* [livejournal.com profile] siriaeve, I hope you are looking at this and seeing that because of you, WE ARE GLEE.

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-01-18 11:53 am (UTC)(link)
It's supposed to be my "Thighstrap! Yay!" icon. But [livejournal.com profile] siriaeve says it looks like it's the "Yay! Light comes out of John's ass!" icon, and now you...

Oh, fandom! You have ruined me for normal discourse!

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-01-18 11:56 am (UTC)(link)
Eeek! There's an image!

*tries not to remember the column she had to edit and that the campus newspaper subsequently printed that described vaginas as "hairy axe wounds"*

I'm both scarred for life and vastly amused.

re: that student. Argh - scotland, scotland, you blithering moron! And I'm bloody *South African*.

But yeah, it probably would have been bad if I'd verbalized the full extent of my reaction, which started with, "Why" and ended with "are you such a moron?"

I uh. May have said that in my outside voice before. A couple times. And I may have also involved their parentage (thankfully more of the Monty Python Hamster than actual wedlock etc) and maybe a few curses. Uh.

I have the social skills of Rodney more times than I care to admit too.

Yes - witness the all pervading GLEE! :g:
