Deep fried Mars bars

Just so everyone knows, I am heading off to Scotland tomorrow, and away from the glorious land of the internet tonight, so that's why I shan't be responding to posts, comments, etc. You know, as opposed to the times when I just randomly disappear for no reason.

I'll be back Monday, and I'll finish filling the rest of the comment songs then. You can still request one, if you like. Mmm, music.

I feel like there's some brilliant Scottish joke that I should be making, but I'm just not finding it. Um. Blah blah blah haggis blah Richard Mayhew blah Highlander blah blah is this a dagger that I see before me, the handle toward my blah. Peter Mackay. The end.

Yeah, I'll just be going now...

Wait. A one last thought to leave you with.

[livejournal.com profile] siriaeve: The McKays were probably Scottish. Maybe Rodney would have to wear a kilt at some family function.
[livejournal.com profile] trinityofone: Maybe Rodney would have to wear a kilt at his wedding. With nothing on under.
[livejournal.com profile] siriaeve: That is tradition. If Rodney is going to do something, he's going to do it right.
[livejournal.com profile] trinityofone: I have gone to a very happy place.

...A place where Rodney and John are having sex, and Rodney's wearing a KILT, in case you weren't quite clear on that. And that is what I will be thinking about as I wing my way to Scotland. If I come back to find that someone has WRITTEN it, well...that'll just be a special bonus.

"...A place where Rodney and John are having sex, and Rodney's wearing a KILT"

Well that's the mental image of the day. Question: who is the top?

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-02-09 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
In general, Rodney. In this case, John. But Rodney's still topping from the bottom, 'cause he's bossy like that.

...And most likely, that's more than you wanted to know. ;-)

Oh no - it is EXACTLY what I wanted to know. We used to watch QaF together in the good old days, remember? I can take it - I'm strong.

I was always curious why the three of you stopped watching that show. I remember you were all excited about it when I first met you, but then it wasn't around. Was the show cancelled?

[identity profile] dizzyditz.livejournal.com 2006-02-09 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
It was that we watched all the ones that were in the rental stores and then we lived together but none of us could afford getting Showtime just for QaF. Hence the stoppage.

Hee. I can totally see him being angry about having to wear a kilt, and complaining the entre way through whatever he's having to wear it for, and John making fun of him a little, and Rodney being all, "Shut up. You have no right to talk about weird fashion statements, Mr. My-Hair-Doesn't-Move." And John being all, "Nah, actually, I appreciate your kilt." And then showing him just how much he appreciates it, because kilts are something everyone appreciates for their totally easy access. Not, um, that I'd know about that or anything. *cough*

YAY SCOTLAND.

Kilt! I'm currently absorbed by writing John-in-a-skirt/Rodney fic. And, WAHAAY, someone else likes Modest Mouse!

if it's McKay, then it's probably Irish; if it's MacKay, then it's probably Scottish

Er, speaking as someone who lives in Scotland, that's really very much not the case. It has much more to do with what the census official taking the names felt like writing on the day.

My Scottish husband and Irish friend visiting say very much no. Either Mac or Mc is common in both countries, and always have been.

(I think this is a common American misunderstanding though, because I remember I once thought that too)

Mm. I'm of Scottish heritage too, distantly (I'm a Burns), and I've been living out here for several years now. Though yep, the actual Scottish lad and Irish wench voicing their opinion definitely know better than either of us! *wry gryn*

Have fun in the land of manly skirts!

Thanks so much for having me! I had an incredibly fabulous time, and would happily inflict myself on you again. And hey, if you're ever in...well, in Dublin I couldn't do much for you, but in Los Angeles? You're looking at cookies and the most comfortable couch bed in town!
