*is seriously skeeved*

I just got back from tutorial to discover that someone had been in my room.

Specifically, my bathroom. And yes, I am sure. It started out as just a weird feeling: as I came in (the bathroom door leads right off the "entry hall") I noticed that the bath mat was askew. "Huh," I thought, but I had left in a hurry and am notoriously absent minded, so I didn't think too much about it. I took out the garbage because I am super responsible like that, and then, when I came back in again, I noticed that the toilet lid was down and that the toilet paper was flipped up oddly. Again, these were both things that could have been done by me in a hurry, but--they weren't.

This was confirmed when I lifted the toilet lid and saw that it was, shall we say, not flushed? And when I took care of this little problem and went to wash my hands, I saw that my soap had been turned upside down and that there was something...stuck in it. Ew, ew, a thousand times ew.

I know that the cleaning ladies (who don't clean our rooms, by the way--just the landings and the kitchens) all have skeleton keys, and so do the maintenance men. I suppose one of them had to go and...just decided to use my bathroom? And apparently I should feel relieved that while they do not flush, they do seem to wash their hands?

No, I'm just grossed out. Seriously, seriously grossed out. After yesterday's trapped in my room incident, Trinity College is certainly not winning any love from me.

I'm...really not sure what I should do about this. Is there anything? I don't think so.

Yuck. Yuck x 1 bagillion.

Well, I'm glad to have John Sheppard on my side. (Because really, you do not want him against you.)

JF makes fabulous skeeved faces, too. *g*

Did they fix your door-handle? That's the really important question *g*

(Not fun, having people in your places while you're not there. But I am jealous of your bathroom-having-ness!)

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-04-06 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
They did fix my door handle. Yesterday. This was totally unrelated. But such a fun sequel, don't you think?

I am lucky to have an ensuite bathroom. But part of the shininess of that is that it's supposed to be, you know, mine.

EW.

Screw building work, report it at once. Sure, they probably won't do anything, but that's not really the kind of thing you can just let pass.

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-04-06 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Who do I report it to? The Accommodations Office? They won't care. They didn't care about my door being broken until I got physically stuck in here.

I think you should report it to someone, somewhere? Campus housing department, if that's where you live, or landlord/super type thing?

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-04-06 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm on campus. I just...I know they won't care? And I'll feel like an idiot going, "But it was gross! Do you not care about the issue of grossness?"

I think I'll just rail ineffectually at LJ instead. *headdesk*

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-04-06 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
That's about right. WTF, world?

[identity profile] of-evangeline.livejournal.com 2006-04-06 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I would report it, because you don't want them making a habit of leaving you...treasures...in the toilet...EEW.

I wish I had a sadface!John icon. :(

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-04-06 04:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't worry, my sadface!John icon pwns all other sadface!John icons in the WORLD!

*icon pride*

I probably should report it. The question is: am I so lazy that I'm just not going to bother to walk all the way over there?

I think you're right that it might not do any good, but I still think you should report it, so that there's something official, on record, in the event anything more serious takes place in the future. You can show a continuing problem on behalf of the college/staff/whathaveyou.

Also, EW. I'm sorry, doll. *pets*

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-04-06 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I just...I can't come up with a way to report it without sounding ridiculous. "My toilet was violated! Help!"

Man, I feel the pain. I never had anything as gross as that, but in my first year the cleaning lady would move my stuff seemingly randomly (like, not just to get a clear surface to clean or whatever) and just that was really creepy. Urgh.

And I totally recommend reporting it. They probably won't do much, but they will have to write it down somewhere, and then if it becomes more of a thing (either for you or anyone else), there's evidence. Which, y'know, will hopefully not be necessary or anything, since it's probably just a random one-off thing that is just icky rather than anything else, but it's probably worth not risking it.

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-04-06 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Grr, yes. I know it's wrong to have hate on for the cleaning lady, because her job can't be easy, but seriously--must she take my clean dishes off the drying rack and shove them under the sink? Where they get dirty again? Right away?

Also, what's with the loud, off-key singing? It's 7 a.m.!

*cough* I don't have issues at all...

[identity profile] trinityofone.livejournal.com 2006-04-06 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, my door knob was finally fixed yesterday after they realized that if there was a fire and I DIED, they could get their asses sued. But that means that this didn't have anything to do with that, as that problem was taken care of yesterday.

It's just one fun treat after another! *sigh* At least I have tea.

That is so freakin nasty. I forgeteth: does your door have a lock? If not, perhaps you could request one from the oh-so-efficent Trinity staff? Unless they are responsible in the first place...*shudders*

Honestly, who doesn't flush toilets? It isn't that hard people.

[identity profile] neery.livejournal.com 2006-04-06 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, maybe I'm just really weird and possessive about my personal space and the sanctitiy of my bathroom and no one being allowed to enter my territory without permission, but this is deeply, deeply creepy. I mean, I've had a robber break into my hotel room and steal money out of my bedside drawer while I was sleeping, and this feels way creepier.

There's a person you don't know who has the key to enter your home anytime, and obviously no respect of your personal space! Someone should care. And do something.

[identity profile] farwing.livejournal.com 2006-04-06 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)

Eww. I think that in order to make sure that your toilet/soap/sanctuary is not violated again, you should start leaving tampons out. Make a little protective Stonehenge of maxipads around your commode. That will keep the workmen away!
