Yeah. So. I can't go to Peg2. The schedule at work has changed, and the week I was going to go to London and the con is now going to be our hell week. Right. Wonderful.

So, yeah: I offically hate my job. Anyone want to hire me to do something else? ANYTHING ELSE?

Also, anyone want to buy my Peg2 ticket? Make me an offer. £90 was the original price, and I'd like to try to get as close to that as possible, because really I need all the money I can scrounge. Anyway, you can e-mail me at trinityofone @ livejournal DOT com. Thanks.

Distract, distract, distract: I wrote fic for [livejournal.com profile] sga_flashfic's Missing Persons challenge:

Title: The Twilight Kingdom
Rating: PG-13
Category: gen
Spoilers: Through 'Inferno'
Length: ~1600 words
Summary: It was our city first. We lived and loved and died here. A tour of Atlantis.
A/N: Huge thanks to [livejournal.com profile] siriaeve, who knew just what to change to make it better.

The Twilight Kingdom

Other distractions? Also welcome. Like, for example, that Go Fug Yourself has really outdone itself this time. *snort*

I'd hire you, but you'd have to move to NY. And you'd have to want to work in marketing.

Oh, man. I really gotta think about other things, or I'm gonna start reenacting certain scenes from Office Space...

If it were local, I'd fake sick, but I think it'd just be too impossible to do for something that's also so far away. Sigh.

This is really getting my goat, on top of the fact that they didn't even GIVE US A CHRISTMAS BONUS!

You're also right it's not worth quitting your job for a con.

Maybe try everything, then admit defeat?

Seriously I'm doing a better devil than angel on your shoulder at the moment. But when it comes to stuff like that I tend to let my id win!

Also, you should probably use a laptop case for your laptop and leave the stick-and-kerchief method of packing for all your other belongings. Just a thought.

In an attempt at making you feel better, I have reenacted certain scenes from Daemonology. I'm rereading TGC and frankly, I had to go read about the boys because it's just too depressing. The little boy with no daemon and a fish! He is so sad! At any rate, a drabble. I hope you don't mind that I played, but perhaps it'll cheer you up a bit. <3.

It’s a little odd, sometimes, like having four people in a bed – John’s always known the familiar comfort of Nioke wrapped around his wrist, like free fall, but now he knows the hyperbolic curve of Rodney’s shoulders, the combination of the two, and the flutter of a tiny heartbeat in his palm. Nioke knows how Tyk’s scent tastes, like heat and, inexplicably, linen closets, and all together, it adds up to an intimacy John’s not used to.

Sometimes, though, it’s all right – no one could know him better than Nioke, but Tyk pulls a close second. If John were ever afraid of being alone, he can’t be, now – she’s too small to be lost. Here, in the dark, sprawled out on his back with Rodney asleep beside him, Nioke a cool, dead weight at his neck, he can think.

Tyk doesn’t always sleep when Rodney does, usually; she says she has to save something for when he goes on coding binges. John thinks, though, that it might be that they’re the same – in need of an infinite horizon and endless possibilities, like expanding galaxies and more stars than even Rodney could build algorithms for.

“Do you think,” he whispers, holding out a hand to feel the pin-prick touch of whiskers against his fingertips, “he likes us?”

“Do you think,” Tyk replies, “you could fit your entire fist in your mouth?” She likes to remind John that he should know better than to ask ridiculous questions, but she climbs into his hand anyway, lets him bring her over to rest on his shoulder, tail still draped across Rodney’s splayed hand. He can feel the current between them – sluggish, now, because the electricity has been discharged, like the sudden connection of a circuit.

“Probably,” John says, stroking a finger down her back, feeling her claws against his skin, digging a little deeper with pleasure as Rodney sinks further into sleep.

“Yes,” she says, finally, with the smallest huff of breath he can imagine, like she’s sighing, put upon. “We like you.”

“We like you, too,” John offers, thoughtful, and Nioke would bite him, but she’ll probably never know.

“I know,” Tyk says, simply, and nudges his hand a little closer to Rodney’s before she falls asleep, curled in their palms.

:)) Let me be honest, I am totally glad you don't hate me forever for borrowing them.

Also, I so totally kind of want to write more. Or possibly to coerce you into writing more with me. :> Comment fic, comment fic! Then I wouldn't feel guilty about posting in my journal because I could be all, LOOK WHAT TRIN DID!

They are so perfect! Perfect and twee! And you totally know Tyk is a secret badass. Also, Nioke is totally the, "Don't make me turn this car around," member of the entire dysfunctional relationship. Rodney is probably sheepishly like, "So I totally blew up another solar system," and she's like, "What have I told you about experimenting with inconsistent variables." *coughs*

Aw, that sucks. *hugs*. I'm not going either. If I could hire you for something, I would. Distractions, distractions. Um, um, a great webcomic (http://xkcd.com/)? I think many of us can identify with this one (http://xkcd.com/c77.html), this one (http://xkcd.com/c55.html) is why Rodney McKay breaks me a bit, and this (http://xkcd.com/c1.html) sequence (http://xkcd.com/c11.html) makes (http://xkcd.com/c22.html) me (http://xkcd.com/c25.html) go (http://xkcd.com/c20.html) WAAAAAA (http://xkcd.com/c31.html).
