I have an hour to eat a sandwich before I participate in another planning meeting. Since SGA isn't on, I thought I would check out this Ghost Hunters marathon.

Is this like the most boring, pointless show ever? Since I sat down here's what keeps happening:

Guy: Spirits, if you want us to know you're here, we need you to just make a noise, move a bench, let us know you're here.
*Two guys and Amanda Tapping stand around awkwardly for a while*
Guy2: So, Amanda, you do a lot of interesting projects, tell us about that.

Have I just hit on the Geraldo Rivera opens Al Capone's tomb episode or what?

ETA: Terrifying update! They have just discovered...a centipede! I AM SO SCARED RIGHT NOW.

Instead, this post is about tonight's Project Runway )

I’ve been really craving “culture clash” romantic comedies. I’m pretty sure this started because I’ve been rewatching The West Wing ([livejournal.com profile] siriaeve’s fault) and I was reminded of a Josh/Donna fic I read years ago where Josh, the East Coast Jew, meets Donna’s Midwestern WASP family, and amusing awkwardness and eventual romance ensue. (This is, incidentally, the story of my mother’s family—my Grandpa G. was even from Connecticut and my Grandma C. from Wisconsin!) Anyway, I can’t find this fic anywhere. Does anyone:

1) Know what the heck I might be talking about?
2) Have any other recs for culture clash rom coms—be they books, fic, films, or anything else? (Just don’t say Meet the Parents.)

Second, I used to nobly set aside a Large and Intimidating Classic to read in the summer months of July and August; this is how I tackled Ulysses and War and Peace. I want to start doing this again, but I can’t decide what book I should read. Can I beg your thoughts? (I’d make a poll but I just realized you can’t without a paid account. Pooh.)

Trin should read:

1) Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes
2) Swann’s Way by Marcel Proust
3) Middlemarch by George Eliot
4) Something else that I’ll suggest in the comments
5) The very idea of this project is incredibly pretentious and I think Trin should just read fanfic and more of [livejournal.com profile] akukorax’s Star Trek novels

Thanks, as always, for your suggestions!

So as loads of people have already mentioned, Steven Moffat's going to be taking over for Doctor Who Season Five.

This, first of all, makes me go \o/! Second, it makes me give serious consideration to the following question:

Does this mean there's a chance that Jack Davenport could be the next Doctor?

You know. If David Hewlett and Philip Glenister aren't available.

How awesome would that be, though, seriously? SERIOUSLY AWESOME.

I'd also like to mention that two nights ago, I had a dream in which Tony Stark teamed up with newly-employed-as-a-flight-attendant Annie Cartwright to save a bunch of people on a plane, and they snarked and flirted a lot. Tony Stark/Annie Cartwright would be a crossover pairing of BRILLIANCE, I feel. CLEARLY I AM ON A ROLL.

Please feel free to share other Eleventh Doctor/Crossover Pairings of Awesome ideas in the comments. :)

Even though I stopped watching, like, two years ago and have no real desire to catch up, having recently been subjected to near-constant previews, I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me what the fuck is happening on Lost.

I'm assuming there was discussion of this, which I missed because of my recent "This one goes to 11 (p.m.)" work week, so I hope nobody minds if I just pose this query; spoilers )

Anyway.

Unrelated: [livejournal.com profile] vassilissa brings the awesome. Or the awesomely terrifying, take your pick.

ETA: [livejournal.com profile] kuwdora brings the other awesome. (Well, she linked to it. *g*) House/Wilson is totally canon, yo! Well, kinda. (Minor S3 spoilers.)

ETA2: Even more awesome via [livejournal.com profile] wychwood. I AM INFAMOUS. And I love [livejournal.com profile] sgastoryfinders.

1. Boys, boys, boys. If you don't want me to slash you (and honestly, it was not my intent) then you really need to stop eyefucking. By which I mean: never, ever stop eyefucking. Never.

2. The latest episode? The scene at the curry restaurant? And, like, basically the whole ep? So. Much. Love.

3. Only one more episode? Man. They're cruel, these short little British seasons.

4. Hunt is totally hot. Sometimes I disgust myself, but mostly I just really weird myself out.

Psst! Downloads on [livejournal.com profile] uk_telly. Hopefully still.

SPORK!
