I know the feeling! Since I've been playing a wandering scholar for the last ten years, I've got used to the idea of meeting people from another compartment of my life in the "wrong" place (friends from Belfast and some of my Irish cousins in Berkeley; friends from Berkeley in London; friends from Turkey in Greece; friends from Oxford in New York or L.A.). But it never gets old.
By the way, I believe the correct way to express an affirmative response in the place you're going to (soon) is: "yes I said yes I will yes." Just to remind you.
