I am trying to make a mix for my grandpa's 80th birthday of songs from the year he was born, 1927. Normally I would try to get these off of LimeWire or Acquisition, but because of something to do with my router, I think, neither of them is working and I am so frustrated right now, my walls are all in danger of having my fist put through them. So instead, I beg: does anyone have any of these songs or are you capable of getting one/some of them for me? (Original versions are preferred, but I'll take ANYthing, really.) If you can help me, I'd be happy to write you a drabble or ficlet based on a prompt of your choice. I just really want to be able to make this mix happen!

Thank you so much! *takes calming breaths and drinks tea*

ETA: Thanks so much to everyone who's provided songs so far! As [livejournal.com profile] _inbetween_ wisely suggested, here's what's left:

*Dew-Dew-Dewey Day
*He Loves and She Loves
*Let a Smile Be Your Umbrella
*Let's Kiss and Make Up
*Lindbergh (Eagle of the U.S.A.)
*My One and Only
*Side by Side
*Soon
*Thinking of You
*Thou Swell

ETA2: Songs on this list work, too! I almost have enough for a full mix! Thanks so much, you guys!

Have you tried this site: gomusic.ru? If you can't get any of those to work either, I could download some later tonight for you!

I'm -sure- I have Ol' Man River, but not positive on what version. Also pretty sure I have some version of 'S Wonderful. If you'd care to drop me a line, I'd be happy to try and help!

I emailed Old Man River to you, but here's the link just in case.

I don't know if it's from the OBC (probably not) but the guy does have a great voice. I've got "Ain't She Sweet," too, but it's the Beatles version--do you still want it?

I know I have a bunch of these (though I have no idea about versions). I'll look tonight, but feel free to bug me if I forget.

I've got Ella's "How Long Has This Been Going On" and perhaps another not-yet-posted on, but I've got to check another HD.

What a sweet thing to do for your grandfather! I've got a couple of songs that don't seem to have been uploaded yet:

Sometimes I'm Happy (Sometimes I'm Blue) (http://www.box.net/shared/f8r9nmyph1)
Duke Ellington - The Peanut Vendor (http://www.box.net/shared/3e41lmm25s)
Perez Prado - El Manisero (The Peanut Vendor) (http://www.box.net/shared/ikiu4bkemb)

Okay, which ones do you still need, because I may have some, and I may have some that aren't on the list from that year too.

You can listen to it in the flash player, and then just choose the file to download.

I'm on dial-up, so I can't be much help. But get someone to go to rhapsody.com and sign up for free. You can get something like 15 songs a month. It's streaming so they'll have to have audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net) or another program that can record. They've got Let's Kiss and Make Up (Ella Fitzgerald or Fred Astaire), Thinking of You (Eddie Fischer), My One and Only (Ella or Fred again) and probably some of the others too. (No Lindbergh or Dew-Dew-Dewey though.)
