There are some bits in there that I spent several minutes trying to work out which episode they were from before realising you'd probably made them up; I think that's an indication of how well this fits into canon!
I love the idea that the Missus is a temporally-displaced person as well. I also adore the way you've shown how all three of them admire Gene at a very deep level indeed; how they all basically think he's a hero and all-round wonderful man. Sorry, getting carried away there, but you've really captured such a lot about the Gene I love here, just in those little snippets of people talking about him.
This whole idea is just awesome; you may be new here, but I take it this is not your first fic by a long way. Well done, and welcome again; I think you'll find this an immensely friendly, tolerant and welcoming comm.
