The question is, did your mom know who he was? Because my mom probably would have said something like "I sat next to the nicest young man at dinner tonight!" and had no clue. Of course, she lives in rural/suburban Connecticut so I just have to assume these things don't happen to her.
Her exact words were: It was the usual crowd plus some dudes from "Smallville," being honored at the festival in the evening. Michael Rosenbaum mean anything to you, Trin? He plays Lex Luthor; we sat next to each other at lunch and he was very funny but pretty arrogant!
A-friggin-mazing. OH and tell your mom she's relieved of duty as far as my quest: quest SOLVED! Solved, I say.
But while we're at it your mom IS totally young looking, and also looks just like you.
We -- my houseguests, natch -- conked out Sunday because it was TOO HOT to drive to Westwood. But, fuckin' A, I want to see you guys. And isn't it Rachel's birthday?
I am mostly amused that Rosenbaum's legs appear to escaping the table. Those tables are ridiculously tiny.
(On claims to coolness for Mum's - when my Mum was a teenager in Australia she a) saw the Bee Gees long before they became famous and b) had a chance to tour with the Beatles. A chance she didn't take)
Hurrah! I am so glad, because we certainly weren't getting anywhere. That show is going to be AWESOME (just like Barney!) and I want a full report!
I'm very pleased and flattered that people seem to think I look like my mom. I hope it's true. :)
Sunday was killer hot. But yeah, I really want to see you, too! Korax's birthday is Wednesday, but we weren't planning on doing anything on the day (I think we both have other plans). She's moving in on Saturday. Maybe after that? Or Sunday? You're definitely invited to our eventual housewarming party, but that's weeks away...
Apparently, he's MR's BFF or something, because dude is with him at every. single. event. He also made an appearance during Michael's segment on MTV Cribs.
Ahh. Well, so does my mom, incidentally. From another email from her:
I'm attaching a pic: [my boss] and my new best friend, Michael Rosenbaum. I don't HAVE to watch "Smallville," do I? (By the way, my feeling is, he's gay!)
When is she moving in? Ray ray needs to come too, and I think she works on saturday. Also I was thinking we might want to wait a week when the theaters wouldn't be too crowded. what do you think?
I really don't want to wait a week. *pouty face* I was gonna try to go see it Friday, except I have to go down to Orange to see my brother's play. What about Sunday?
She's moving in Saturday morning, I think. I hope.
I kinda want us to go see the Harold & Kumar movie at some point, too...
The truth? I have this crazy fascination with MR in drag, and crossdressing isn't my usual kink in either fic or movies, so for me it was worth the pain. Unfortunately, MR's character hates having to dress up in drag, while MR in the extra bit this is taken from has such a great time with it, you wish he'd been like that in the movie. Most of the movie is completely idiotic, but even unwilling, MR makes a disturbingly hot drag queen. If you rent it and find yourself retching, just watch the extra features where he's doing his little sexy pouty runway thang.
The other option for MR in drag (yes, there are two) is Sweet November, which I've heard is even more spork-worthy. *sigh*
