A test of faith? We already saw the difference between pre-Castiel Jimmy and post-Castiel Jimmy. Before he was a devout man who looked to heaven and God with complete and utter faith that whatever happened God would provide. If you look at the after when Jimmy was unwilling to say grace, even crying as his daughter asked why, not to mention when he lied and told his wife he'd been in an institution for the last year(which was completely understandable given their conversation just before he had originally disappeared, but just looking at his face and demeanor as he talked about it was just painful), I thought it showed while he still believed in God, he had lost his faith.
Castiel/Claire offering him the choice seemed to kind of smack of testing, but it could just be me.
And the whole permission thing is an interesting point too. I wonder if they'll ever address it or no.
I agree with the oww-ieness of the epi. That was just painful on a level that very few shows can ever achieve.
I am trying to figure out the whole Castiel/Dean clip for next week's epi. Thoughts? :)
