When I was a kid (Da was military, and there were always MREs hiding in the pantry), the rhetoric wasn't quite so vehement. I honestly don't remember any rhetoric, but the pouch wasn't the military drab either; it was military green. Though, it sounds like the food might suck let then when I was a bitlet.
