Wow. Not being familiar with the books at all, I nevertheless dived in, because it's you! :) At first I kind of rebelled against the idea of John or Rodney having what I perceived as a weakness - the daemon being so vulnerable to attack and them being emotionally dependent on them seemed off, somehow - but they kind of grew on me. I like the choices you made for the various daemons - Teyla's and Radek's struck me particularly. And then the whole bit with Rodney grabbing John's daemon and returning it to him kind of caught me and held me and propelled me forward through the rest of it, and I'm glad it did, because the ending was completely original and gorgeous and lyrical.
