I'm unfamiliar with the HDM universe or daemons (most helpful appendix there), but I took a leap anyway and boy, was I rewarded. Lovely prose, lovely rhythm, beautiful style. I know I'm missing allusions and shorthand references, but there was so much here that I did get.
