Scene: [livejournal.com profile] trinityofone's Fables tutorial, a little after nine a.m.

Tutor: Let's talk about symbols. Say you have a candle. What does that represent?
[livejournal.com profile] trinityofone: A penis.
Student Who is NOT Batshit Insane: Light.
[livejournal.com profile] trinityofone's brain: No talking. Ever. Again.

Y'all wish you were in my class, doncha?

Also, GIP. [livejournal.com profile] siriaeve makes the bestest icons, doesn't she? Yes.

That was totally what everyone was thinking though. I know it's what I would have thought first, and depending on the company might have said. Hee.

I'd of liked to be in the class just to see the reactions everyone had to that statement. *grins*

For my part, I tend not to actually say things, but I'm really bad at controlling my responses to things that other people say, whether they're unintentionally funny or blindingly stupid. I mean, I - I snort. Or giggle. Or make faces of disgust whenever someone says something like, for example: 'animals can't possibly have minds because everything they do is entirely survival oriented'.

My mother points to this as Reason No 1 Etben Is Not Dating Anyone: She's Tactless Like A Tactless, Tactless Thing, Or Possibly Like Her Father.

Although, you know, the candle probably does represent a penis. Most of them do.

So I took this class on the history of revolution and rebellion in Mexico during my sophomore year of college, and at one point in the semester we were discussing the leftist movements of the 1950s and 60s in the wider geographic region. And my professor, an extraordinarily cool woman who wound up being my thesis advisor even after my total lapse of decorum, started talking about Che Guevara and the Cuban revolution and such, and put up a picture of Che on the overhead.

"So-- why, exactly," quoth my professor, "were some of the ideals of the Cuban revolution were so well received in certain circles within Latin America?"

And I was totally going for the sotto voce comment, but alas. "Because Che's fucking hot?" wound up broadcast across the classroom.*

Oh, the idiocy.

* Did I mention I went to undergrad in Georgia? I love my state, sure-- but it's not precisely the best place to express an appreciation of either Che's politics or his ass.

Hee. And OMG, have you seen this?

I just did! (I couldn't watch it at university, and the embedded player didn't work for me in Linux, so it's taken a while...)

And ahahaha :) BREEDING!

Is it wrong that I kind of want yet another version of the badger animation, only with little Mars rovers popping up? *g*
