So...I am at work. BossMan and BossLady don't come in until several hours after everyone else's presence is required. I have called the person I was supposed to interview this morning, but they rescheduled for 1:30. I have twice e-mailed the other person I am supposed to interview but they have not e-mailed me back. I have also re-emailed the publicist I am supposed to speak to for another story, but no word there, either. I have revised the two short pieces I was able to write yesterday.
*twiddles thumbs* Okay, now what?
Seriously, what am I supposed to do? I want to be working. But if there's nothing to do, am I just supposed to stare at the wall? Grr.
What do you responsible, adult-type people do when work is slow? If the answer is "Screw around!" shiny examples would be appreciated!
Here's one for you guys: one of the articles I'm working on is about this art exhibit that Johnny Depp co-sponsored. Our angle is of course "OMG! Johnny Depp!" but I think the artist, a French guy named Gravleur who had never been on a plane before Johnny convinced him to come to America, is incredibly talented. You can see his work here. I especially love #38--it looks like my grandfather. Johnny has damn good taste.

Date: 2006-06-28 06:00 pm (UTC)Usually I end up writing (original fiction), reading LJ, and on one lovely occation, watching a TV show while I wanting for someone to tell me what to do.
If everything else fails, Solitare is a good fall back? ^^;; Bubble wrap is also fun, but hard to do quietly.
*goes back to going mailing list data entry of doom*

Date: 2006-06-28 06:03 pm (UTC)I don't know why since the artists' works are actually pretty different from each other, but the feeling they evoke in me: a delightful spooky tingle that makes me gasp, is the same.

Date: 2006-06-28 06:04 pm (UTC)Hah, I'm avoiding studying for my final exam, so I'm playing a lot of online games.
Also, this is cool.
Gravleur has an interesting style. Very minimalistic. *approves*

Date: 2006-06-28 06:12 pm (UTC)Ohh, I also read the news sites. Because it looks like I'm doing something I'm supposed to, even though I'm not.
That's what they get for not giving me enough work. And not realising how incredibly efficient I am (or realising and just not caring, or realising and just not having anything else to give me to do...)

Date: 2006-06-28 06:44 pm (UTC)g47 was actually the one that we were considering printing in the magazine, but as some of Gravleur's work is cinema-inspired (I don't know if you noticed the portraits of Jack Nicholson and Erich von Stroheim, say) we may go with one of those instead.

Btw, lest I search in the wrong place, that hilarious Clover conversation took place in your journal, didn't it?
