Last night I realized that I made a horrible mistake. [livejournal.com profile] isiscolo is running a Hewligan ficathon at [livejournal.com profile] sga_6degrees, and though I signed up, I missed the perfect opportunity to request Julian Lodge/Stephen Colbert. Fictional Stephen Colbert, I mean, though I see how he could be easily confused with Real Stephen. Actually, I just want a fic where Julian is on the Colbert Report. And maybe in the story it's a real show, or maybe Julian just thinks it's real and then over the course of the story, realization slowly, slowly dawns. I don't know. It was late and I'd just eaten some pie. But Stephen was talking about "wrestling" with his building manager (and what is up with this Oprah thing? Seriously) and I thought...yeah. There's the craziest/best idea I've had in the last five minutes!

Sometimes I worry that I'm the only one still obsessed with Julian. I hope the Hewligan fest proves me wrong. (In the mean time, [livejournal.com profile] yin_again has a tendency to make me feel better about this. [livejournal.com profile] siriaeve, too.)

Walk-to-Work music from the last few days:

Float On - Modest Mouse
This is a good song to listen to in the morning. It really gets me going! [/Jennifer Garner]

Life on Mars - David Bowie
The world is strange. Discuss.

Don't Fade Away - Milla Jovovich
I put this on my S1 SGA mix. I still think it's a good song for Atlantis.

Top of the City - Kate Bush
This was on someone else's ([livejournal.com profile] jchalo's?) SGA mix, and I think it's a really good Atlantis song, too.

Speed of Sound - Coldplay
Wanna know how I know you're gay? You like Coldplay.

Heartland - Bell X1
Beautiful U2 cover. And [livejournal.com profile] siriaeve's boyfriend Paul Noonan enunciates better than Bono does, so you can actually understand Bono's gorgeous lyrics.

Honey Don't Think - Grant Lee Buffalo
Could you learn to read minds?
In the case of mine
Do you read in the dark?

Hi, John.

Angry Johnny - Poe
Oh, man. I remember being 14 and thinking this song was SO BADASS. Baby's first double entendre! Aww.

Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now - The Smiths
I was looking for a job and then I found a job and heaven knows I'm miserable now. Oh, ha ha.

Finally, two questions to put to you:

1. I have access to the pilots of all new fall shows through my work. I've already watched "Heroes," "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," "Betty the Ugly," and "Vanished." Would y'all be interested in reviews of these and/or other shows?
2. Should I join [livejournal.com profile] atlantis_lvw or is it just going to make me nauseous because I really, really can't handle competition?

When is Heroes actually coming out? I managed to download a copy of the pilot myself, and I kind of want to pimp it, but I have NO IDEA.

Is the title of the Betty-la-fea show really going to be "Betty the Ugly?" That seems like an... interesting translation. Anyway, yeah, I would be interested in hearing about both those shows.

(Also, I am still obsessed with Julian.)

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to hear about S60 or Heroes, since those are my two most promising fall prospects. *g*

Part of me (selfishly) thinks you should totally join [livejournal.com profile] atlantis_lvw, because I love your writing and I want you to play in everything I do, and part of me thinks you shouldn't, because I don't want anything to discourage you from writing, ever. *torn*

Thank you for the music, the songs I'm singing...*sings*

I'm particularly interested on Betty the Ugly, because it is obviously a TDWP rip, but it could either soar or tank. Also, how about giving yourself some time to mull LVW over, and it by a certain date you're still unsure, then it probably means you'd be better off just cheering the others on? I don't handle competitions well either, so I'll be in the sidelines doing my cheerleading routine. ;)

The trouble with Julian is that even if he ends up in the Log Cabin Republicans he'll still be a, well, Republican: he'll assume he deserves all the benefits of rich white male privilege even though he's gay.

I love seeing him struggle with his repression, mind, but he's basically Roy Cohn (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Cohn), so, ya know -- scum. Getting him to *not* turn out to be Cohn, that's the tricky bit.

It took me ages to realise there is a Flanigan hidden in what sounds like a Hewlett thing! I kept wondering how you'd get Julian in there. Whom I love, yet feel completely disconnected from, since hardly anybody mentions him (except for the "blahdeeblahpretty").

You'd naturally hate being voted out of lvw, but then again maybe you want to argh dunno, practice handling that for when you submit to publishers? Most people can't handle competition. But then again you might get an acceptance there right away and don't need this, or you'd win the lvw anyway? I think I'll delete this comment, so not helpful again.

I get great pleasure out of your obsession with Julian. So please, please continue. I don’t even have a proper word to describe Julian but I do understand how he can get your under the skin.

I would love to read your reviews. And I’d certainly trust them more than some /g/

At least four people requested First Monday stories or crossovers. Not that this means that their writers will necessarily choose to write those stories, but chances are good!

Now I feel like the greatest bum, but:
1. Music! +snaggs some+
2. I want to hear every single detail about studio 60, especially all and everything about the scenes with Matthew Perry. Yesyesyes!

+coughs+ ... umm yes, please? thanks? +coughs more+

And I love Float On. Modest Mouse always manages to make me sad and happy at the same time, all with a hint of melancholia. Whatever that is about...But yeah, big love for Float On. ^^

I do not know whether to be amused, flattered, or ashamed at that. I think I will just settle for saying 'Yay, Julian! You are a smarmy prick, but I love you so!'

Also, Paul Noonan is so my crazy dancing musical boyfriend!

1. I would totally be interested.

2. I dunno. I do, though, know that Julian/Stephen Colbert is the most. awesome. idea. ever. I think it works better with fictional Stephen - real Stephen I can't see ever going for somebody like Julian, plus the whole actually-devoted-to-wife-and-kids-and-possibly-Paul-Dinello thing, but fictional Stephen? It's totally on - if he'd 'wrestle' with building manager Tad (ahahah) then Julian just, er, slots right in! And the idea of the Report being real in a world where Julian is real seems to weirdly fit to me and omg, I wish there was some fic for that already out there. It's brilliant. :D

Oh man, you are *so* not the only one still obsessed with Julian. Your fics made him one of my favorite fictional characters. I may or may not have written a song based on "Those Who Wander." shut up. Seriously, I will read anything about that boy. Wonderful, wonderful repressed Julian. ♥.

...I'm kind of thinking that something like LVW is probably a bad plan, partly because of hurt feelings and partly because it's all so subjective. If you think you could cope with (say) being voted off in the first round, then that's up to you, though :)

I still love Julian! If I was any good at writing I would write you a Julian/Colbert piece. They would spend a lot of time on the ties, I think. I can see The Colbert treating both of their ties almost reverently. Like it's their only link back to their real lives.

I wonder if Colbert would be calm and controlling, like he usually is, or if maybe Julian would take the lead. It's the only Julian pairing where I would imagine him as the one in control.
