Also known as: help Trin pretend that her boss isn't due back any minute and he's going to be cranky and she's not done with everything she needs to be done with (mostly this is not her fault) and oh god oh god *waves hands* let's just focus on something else.

Name a fandom and I will tell you what I think I know about it, derived only from my LJ experience.

Okay? Thanks. Now I shall try to dislodge my heart from where it seems to have wedged itself—somewhere in the mid-throat region, I think.

ETA: Anyone know who posted the SPN mix this song was part of? It was in the last few days, but I'm an idiot with a bad memory. Nevertheless, I'd like to say thank you, because it's awesome.

The Dark Is Rising: There's a character called Will. Also one called Bram? They are possibly gay for other another; Will is gay for somebody, anyway. The books are by Susan Cooper who I met once in Killington, Vermont.

The Wheel of Time: This series will NEVER end. Robert Jordan is fucking with you. Yes, YOU.

Really? You've met Susan Cooper? How come? What was she like? She is one of my heroines. And you should read The Dark is Rising and the series, it's absolutely fantastic, brilliant fantasy really rooted in the history and magic in the British Isles in the way Harry Potter wishes it was.

This is going to be a disappointing story. ;-) Um. There was this contest when I was elementary school, with a reading list and whoever read the most books on the list would get to go meet one of the authors at this thing in Killington. Two kids from each school, I think, got to go. So I of course read all the books on the list, and got to go meet Susan Cooper, who was signing copies of The Boggart and who gave a short talk and Q&A which I unfortunately don't remember very well. I was in 5th grade I think.

I've actually read The Dark Is Rising, but that was ages and ages ago, and I don't really remember it well except that I made some sort of drawings of—rings?—for a book report; I dunno, I must have been even younger, third or fourth grade maybe. My memory sucks. I've also read Over Sea, Under Stone more recently, but I don't remember being particularly grabbed by it. Maybe I should try again?

There. That story totally sucked. I'm sorry.

I am still jealous of you for having met her!

And you should read the actual book The Dark is Rising because it's one of the best works of children's fantasy ever; the series is all pretty good, but that one is just awesome. Bran doesn't turn up until book 4, though *g*.

I know, I know; so many people say it's good! And I think I liked it when I was, I dunno, eight or whatever. I'm just really appalled that I can't remember it at all.

Maybe I'll check it out of the library. If I finally manage to drag myself to the library, that is.
