Ahaha. Your summary is actually pretty much accurate! (In the sense that it would be accurate to describe SGA as a show in a city with an awesome American military guy who paints pictures of the city and is very cute).

I resisted watching B5 for ages because it sounded too depressing - but it's actually the best TV show I've ever seen. Some of the stuff it does with structure and arcing is just amazing - storylines that take four years to pay off and consistent plotting over whole seasons. I think you would like it. Also, there is lots of humour and some real happiness mixed in with the rest of it; it doesn't feel that doom-and-gloom when you're watching.

I know I'm going to have to see it eventually; Darcy has been bugging me for YEARS. Maybe when I'm rich and have a lot of free time and can mainline the DVDs? Yes, that sounds like a plan!
