I write a monthly column, which is called "Also Showing." It's short, humorous descriptions of upcoming films. No big deal, right? WRONG. For the this issue, not only did BossMan make me have the column finished in the first week of January, forcing me to do rewrites when the schedules inevitably changed, he didn't look it over until the LAST MINUTE and now I'm rushing to make changes.

Also, he says I can use the word "poncy" but only if I find a dictionary definition that proves my spelling is correct. "Find it for me in a British dictionary," he said.

*headdesk*

Can anyone help me find an online dictionary definition for the word "poncy" in the next 45 minutes? You know, before I start to CRY?

BossMan's rules about that are sketchy. But Urbandictionary's no help; they actually don't have it listed, except with a definition that's incorrect.

Is it at Websters? I could use Websters... (I'm really looking for ANYTHING at this point.)

From the compact OED online -

http://www.askoxford.com/results/?view=dict&freesearch=ponce&branch=13842570&textsearchtype=exact

can be spelled poncey or poncy (although the former looks right to me as Brit? But I'm no scientist. Or nothin')

Really? I've seen "poncy" more. But then I'm an American who has no idea what she's talking about!

I'll go with whatever the most sources say.

Thanks for your help!

More importantly, let me know if there is anything I can do to make your day better or all that. I know you are stressed! <3. Just tell me if there is anything at all I can do.

From the online OED:
http://dictionary.oed.com/cgi/entry/50183779?single=1&query_type=word&queryword=poncy&first=1&max_to_show=10

poncy, adj.
derogatory slang (chiefly Brit.).
Affected, pretentious, self-consciously refined or superior; overly fancy or elaborate; effeminate, homosexual.

Hi! You don't know me, but I see your fics all over the place and they are wonderful and I would like to friend you. (Which is kind of a weird thing to say, really. Ah... the vagaries of LJ life!)

I don't know that we have much in common, so I will not be offended if you don't friend back. I would just like to keep up with your writing and maybe get to know you a bit better.

Cheers!
