Today is the last day to sign up for the Rodney/Teyla Thing-a-Thon at [livejournal.com profile] sticksandsnark! I know there have to be some stragglers out there who secretly want some Rodney/Teyla lovin'.

Now I have to catch a bus across town to attend a press lunch and interview Robert Wilson, who's an artist who does things like video Brad Pitt in his underwear in the rain. Sounds good, right? Well, watch the video on that page and you'll see why I'm kind of dreading this interview... (Avant garde, oy!)

This week has been so hard—we're nearing the final deadline for this issue, and I've had to stay past 11 p.m. several nights. I'd say I wanted to sleep for a thousand years, but I just read Girlfriend in a Coma, so perhaps that's not such a great idea.

Oh, good—it's not just me!

The weird thing is, it's also being presented (or has been presented) as stills, and as simple images it's beautiful. It's all that excess crap (that voice over! Oy!) that makes it stupid.

*laughs* Oh, that video is kind of...hilarious. What is the appropriate response to stuff like that?

Umm, that video, is, er, interesting?

(The only good thing about it are Brad Pitt's abs. And boxers.)

Actually, Robert Wilson is a director first and foremost, not an artist. He's worked extensively with Philip Glass, and more recently with Tom Waits (Waits's Black Rider, Blood Money, and Alice records all come out of Wilson collaborations)

I'm not a fan of his work myself - it tends to be ravishingly beautiful but mind-numbingly slow - but if you're going to a junket for the guy, you might want to know that much, at least ;)

Ah, yes, the wonderful world of magazine closings. It's almost reassuring to know they haven't gotten less painful. Good luck!

Is it bad that I could only get to the part of the vid where he shoots the gun and my reaction is, "Awwwww." And then hysterical laughter?

::sigh:: Perhaps I'm just not artistically sensitive enough. Have fun with the interview.

wtf?

Was that really Brad Pitt?
If so, how much did they pay him to do that?
(DUDE, I *so* would have demanded an obscene amount of money before doing something so very very likely to turn into an internet ridicule-a-thon...)
