Game, Set, McShep Match! + Music Mix!

Are you achingly anxious for a new season of SGA to start? (I know I am! she says, now starting to feel rather like the host of an infomercial.) Luckily, trobadora and fluffyllama have come up with the perfect solution to the summer doldrums: mcshep_match! It's part game, part ficathon, and I really think it's going to be totally awesome. You should go check it out here.

I'm going to be heading up Team Angst (mcshep_angst) and the wonderful lamardeuse is heading up Team Romance (mcshep_romance). I want all of you to join my team! (ETA: Though don't join the team comms yet; wait till sign-ups on the main comm are over.) Ideally we're going to produce stories that also have a solid romantic core—and yes, even happy endings!—but they'll be romances that are earned. They'll be that delicious bittersweet fight for happiness in a messed-up world, where love and the characters' faith in each other is the only thing left to cling to, the one torch burning bright in the darkness. Angst isn't about emo, people: it is about epic, sweeping love stories that are so tortured and passionate they threaten to rip you apart! Think Jane Eyre! Casablanca! Gone With the Wind! (*Blindings, sacrificial separations, and not-giving-a-damn optional.)

You don't have to choose a side right away. Currently, there's an icon contest going on where you can celebrate McKay/Sheppard lovin' of all kinds. It's running till Tuesday night, so hurry over!

You're totally cut out for Team Angst; to be honest, I pretty much think that any writer could do well with either team. It should really be about what'll be the most fun for you. Are you in a drama mood or a screwball comedy mood? (Though personally, I'll be madly impressed if someone writes a screwball comedy angst story—and yes, I think it is possible.)
