Here via toft_froggy and my brain has gone all melty into goo at that picture. NEVILLE, OMG. DUDE. As these kids get older, I find it easier to crush on them, despite being a bazillion years older than them.

I don't know if anyone else has said this, but I met him once (long story) and he's incredibly good-looking IRL. He looks nothing like the character of Neville.

The one thing I've been sort of sad to hear in this thread is that they really have been "uglifying" him for the movies more than I thought (although movie!Neville is still adorable!). I liked it better when it was a case of awesome blossoming, because Neville is my favorite and I want to imagine him kicking ass (trufax!) and making all the girls (and a good number of the boys) in his herbology class swoon.

This does not surprise me. Because in my head, Neville's grandmother bears a striking philosophical resemblance to Auntie Mame, and therefore taught him jazz piano, swing dancing, and how to mix a perfect martini.

And he's good at all of them, only nobody at Hogwarts knows because who else in the wizarding world but Grandma Longbottom cares about jazz and swing?

Lots of people probably care about martinis, but the kids are all too young to drink, and not really rebellious in that sort of way.
