Even though I stopped watching, like, two years ago and have no real desire to catch up, having recently been subjected to near-constant previews, I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me what the fuck is happening on Lost.

I am not a man. That should be "YOU TEAST ME, MADAM."

I have not told you of my campaign to call everyone "sir," regardless of sex? It is directly related to my "I hate the word ma'am" screed.

Also, thanks for clearing that up for me; your glorious bosom just wasn't cluing me in. ;-)

My bosom is glorious, yes!

No you have not told me this. Also, I said Madam, not ma'am. Ma'am is one of the least attractive words in the English language.

It's a good campaign! I'd be down with everyone being called "mister," too. Especially as that comes with the fun bonus of making it sound like we're all crew on a futuristic spaceship. "Here's the tech column for you to edit, Mr. Kaufman." "My thanks, Mr. Cappa." AWESOME.

Oh, God, I couldn't even begin. I stopped watching eeearly last season, and when my friends who watch it tell me about it, all I hear is that "Peanuts" grown-up drone, interspersed with words like "Hurley", "Locke", and "Sawyer".

Um, there are evil people on the other side of the island? They found the survivors from the other half of the plane? People died? (But not Hurley, yay!) Try Television without Pity, maybe they have some kind of summary...

Yeah, mostly what I get from the ads is that certain characters are still alive. I'm like, "Sawyer, check! Locke, check! Jin and Sun, check!" And that's pretty much all I care about.

Except, well...there's some niggling curiosity that I just can't shake, dammit!

I need "Lost in 30 Seconds." With or without bunnies.

I'm actually trying the Wikipedia summaries now, as they are blessedly brief. It's hilarious how many plot points end, "...but Locke blows it up." *snicker*

Actually Jin is dead now. Or will be dead. Or was dead. c.c I don't follow the show much anymore, but they're doing some kind of foward time-traveling thing now, and Jin dies in the future. Or maybe it's now. I'm not kidding about that. The ep we found out about his death had a flashback in a flashforward from the future or some such crap like that.

It's really just way way too much effort. Plus they keep having Jack and Kate kiss, which makes me throw up. Oh, and Jack and Kate are raising some other character's kid. Really, lord knows.

Well, to be fair, we don't actually know that he's dead. All we know is that he doesn't get off the island with Sun and they've put up a tombstone for him that has the date *of the original crash* on it. As far as we can tell, in the future the world only thinks the six that made it off the island survived the crash in the first place, so it's just as likely that he's back on the island with everyone else who didn't get off. In a recent episode he told one of the guys who showed up with a helicopter that she HAD to take Sun off the island if they got off, with or without him, so it was very deliberate.

We did see Sun give birth to her daughter, though, and it was heartbreaking to not have Jin there to see it too. But no - not actually dead yet.

Apparently Jin (like three other cast members) got arrested for a DWI. DWI in RL = character death on Lost.

Hrm. It's....awfully hard to encapsulate anything that happens on that show in an easy summary, not least because most of the time I have no idea what's going on. And I enjoy it! I think that's the real mystery of it all.

The big thing is that now we're getting all sorts of flash-forwards in addition to flashbacks, we know that six people get off the island, and Charles Whitmore wants to kill everyone on the island and take it over to get back at Ben. And Locke is back to being the promised one, despite the fact that when John was young, Richard (who DOESN'T AGE!) visited him and found him lacking. Does any of that make sense?

Aww, crap. It seems I didn't even watch long enough to know who Charles Whitmore and Richard are. I'm screwed, aren't I?

Hmmm, do you know Desmond's girlfriend Penelope? Charles is her father, played by Alan Dale (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0197638/). And his name is apparently spelled "Widmore," which I didn't realize.

Richard is one of the Others, the one who apparently recruited wee!Ben as well as Juliet. He's played by Nestor Carbonell (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004801/).

It is a hard show to drop back in on, but on the other hand if you can watch an episode with someone who has been watching maybe they can just explain the confusing bits as you go? The next three episodes are apparently a three-part season finale, so they should sum up a lot of what's happened in the past year or two.

lots of awesome stuff - beer and skeletons and cages and hatches and people frolicking about the jungle for random reasons and john locke blowing up everything all the time and a guy with an eyepatch who refuses to die and kate getting into trouble because she always has to tag along and elecromagnetism and hot dudes.

The cool thing about LOST s4 is that now we also have flash-forwards!! And island time is the past! And some folks (Hurley, Sun, Sayid, Jack, Kate and Aaron, who is now being raised by Kate) got off the island. But we're still uncertain about the fate of the rest.

As always, it can be summed up with 'fucking weird shit happens and no one asks NEARLY enough questions'. There were a few weeks without episodes airing (strike strike strike) and right before they resumed, there was a fairly genius 4-minute review of everything. I don't think it's on the ABC website anymore, but someone's sure to have it, maybe to download.

I suggest this:

and then this:

The latter has fewer details, but extends into season 4... and is generally funnier.

I haven't missed an episode yet, and I feel the same way. This season has been really good, but I don't know if I could really explain what's happened.
