Trailer for ABC's Life on Mars remake

...

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.

There goes my strategy of remaining cautiously optimistic! Reality: 1, Optimism: 0

Also, I think it's worth noting that I finally hit my limit with American Voice Over Guy. I miss the calm, soothing voices of the BBC. I can be ex-pat now?

Picture it:

Some Guy in a Pub, 5 Years From Now: So what finally drove you away? Was it political?
Me: Nope. They remade Life on Mars.

Okay, even as I am not a HUGE fan of the original LoM, I can that is-- probably not so amazing.

HOWEVER.

COLM MEANY. Which I think is amazingly ironic and other things. *G*

Look, he's my favorite Crazy Irish Space Terrorist ever, but he's just. Not Gene Hunt. AT ALL.

I think the lead actor is British, and Colm is, obviously, Irish, and this is supposed to be an American version, so :shrugs:

They're both Irish, actually, I believe. APPARENTLY THERE WERE NO AMERICAN ACTORS IN AMERICA.

And yet, when they actually have characters who are non-American, they are usually played by American, or they get a South African to play an Australian, or someone from South America to play an Israeli.

And it's not like there isn't about a squillion actors from all over the world in LA trying desperately for their first break, if they wanted a blonde Brazilian with a lisp, I'm certain they could find one.

Sorry, I wasn't meaning to imply that I am anti non-Americans playing Americans; just, under the circumstances, it's kind of ironic, don't you think?

No, you weren't implying that, and I didn't take it that way, I was just being sarcastic with you :)

(i'm sorry I was not being clear!, blah).

The other night myself and a friend were counting the number of Australian characters on Lost who were played by Australians, and I think we only came up with two, the others were played by Americans, Kiwis or South Africans. And the Kiwi actor in it, who I like a lot, has ended up playing an Australian in two other American series.
