Sigh. So of course the awesome all-female team gets wasted on the episode that's basically a bad horror movie. Guys, putting kickass women on your show just so they can get picked off one by one in typical horror movie fashion? DOESN'T COUNT. I mean, admittedly, it wasn't the massacre I initially feared, but seriously—this was the best you could come up with? 28 Days Later in Space?

Also, I can't believe I had to sit through an hour of boring Beckett/Porter flirting (only made bearable by the awesome Sgt. Mehra) but have to wait another whole week for any McKay/Keller resolution. (Not to mention more than ten seconds of McKay/Sheppard interaction.) *sad*

At least we now know that John keeps his girlish figure through funk aerobics!

ETA: Wow, I'm a lot crankier than everyone else. Um. I had to spend a lot of time at the DMV today. Just ignore me!

Also, SciFi advertising S5 as "The Best Season of Stargate Atlantis Ever" after canceling it? Kind of makes me want to kick them in the groin.

See, I was worried it would be the "awesome female team gets picked off one by one" episode, except only one of them dies. The other three have at least one near-miss/fakeout apiece sure, but they're all alive at the end, and 3 out of 4 surviving is actually a pretty impressive ratio for a non-SG1/SGA1 gate team on this show.

You're right though that the Beckett/Porter flirting was incredibly boring. I decided early on that she was just humoring him so as to avoid outing her girlfriend, Sgt. Mehra.

Yeah, I think I got worried they were going there early on and it soured me a little, even though that wasn't how it actually turned out. But I'd still so much rather have had more sci-fi in my sci-fi show.

I support your theory about Porter/Mehra. I think every team should have at least one secret couple. ;-)

I got through it (and the rest of the episode) by constructing an elaborate Porter/Miera femmeslash backstory...

Thankfully, there has been absolutely no Mehra/Carson so far—I think you may be confusing Mehra with Porter. But yes, absolutely no Mehra/Carson in the future, thank you!

I was a little annoyed that they killed one of them off. I know that "horror" episodes are meant to create suspense and whatnot - but a gifted writer can pull off suspense and tension without killing anyone off.

*grumbles*

Vega was the only one we'd been introduced to earlier in the season as well.

Still - there's still 3 out of 4 members of the kickass female team left. If there was going to be another series I'd hope that it meant Cadman could comeback. In fact that's my personal canon from now on. Everyone needs a good explosives expert after all.

(And who wants to bet that John is all 'OMG! You guyz! There's a team made of girlz!' and Lorne's all *facepalm* 'You're the military commander of Atlantis - how did you not know this?' and Teyla's all 'Yes, I know. I have been instructing them in the wicked cool arts of stick fighting' and Rodney's like 'Yeah, yeah, whatever - girls blah, blah, blah. Can we make out now?' and Ronon just says 'Huh. Cool' and endeavours to go on a mission with them so he can see how kickass they are)

Yeah: I mean, considering this is the last season and every episode feels that much more precious, I would really like my dorky sci-fi show to be my dorky sci-fi show. :(

It wasn't just a bad horror movie- it was a bad sci-fi channel original movie plot. Though I guess 3/4 of the women surviving isn't too bad.

The Beckett/Porter flirting was just awkward. At least we had Dusty/Sgt Mehra there to make fun of them.
