Camp Obama! \o/

I got in! I'm going this weekend to train, and then after that I'll probably be going to Nevada for a weekend, and then again at the end of October until election day. I am so excited! I hope I can do well at this. *crosses fingers and toes*

My big problem now is that the camp is in Long Beach and I don't have any way of getting there.

Does anybody know anyone who is going to Camp Obama in Long Beach this weekend and might be interested in carpooling with someone from West L.A.?

I've already asked at obama_ca and at barackobama2008 (no luck so far). Does anybody have any ideas of what else I might try?

I would have loved to go to but I have a toddler and noone around me who could take care of him but you'll definitely be in my thoughts!
And I'll be crossing my fingers and doing whatever little I can, unfortunately I live in NY so everyone I talk to already thinks like me :)

is there no bus from l.a. to long beach? i would think that there must be something, if for no other reason than because jet blue runs flights from there.

(if you'd like, i can see if my sister knows anything - she goes to pitzer and flies into long beach all the time, and i have no idea what she does for transportation after that.)

I can't really find anything for that early in the morning that doesn't take me hugely out of my way and/or take 3+ hours. I may have to beg my mom for a ride. :\ If your sister has a suggestion, I would love to hear it!

What about Super Shuttle? I take it from LAX to Long Beach for some pretty early morning meetings *yawn* I think it's about $30? Cheaper than a cab, I know.

Hey, no sweat. The way I feel about this election, I'd be glad to help any fellow Obama-folk.
I'm about half a mile off of Washington Blvd, pretty close to the beach. I guess my area is technically Marina Del Rey but I maintain that Marina Del Rey isn't a city, it's a giant dock, with seals. XD Yeah, Venice proper rocks socks, the canals esp. are just fairytale-pretty. Whereabouts are you, if you don't mind me asking?

Oh yeah, I hang out on the beach near there sometimes because a friend of mine lives in the same area. It's a nice place...although the romanticism of Venice's best is hard to beat, it's true.

I live near Sawtelle Blvd. in generic "West L.A." It's a nice area, too, but I really want to live closer to the ocean some day.

Hey, that's pretty close! My favorite conveyor-belt sushi restaurant is at Sawtelle and Olympic (there are awesome Japanese groceries there too). Sometimes I wish I lived closer to there but I suppose my wallet thanks me for the status quo. I got lucky and found a tiny studio with a great location for relatively cheap back when I still worked for EA. Now that I work in Culver City it's a little less convenient, thank god my car is fuel-efficient >_>. Regardless of how this ride thing pans out I'd love to hang out sometime!

Heh, I just got my dinner and my gift for my Long Beach hosts at those Japanese groceries. I didn't know there was a conveyor-belt sushi place near there, though! (I love one of the sushi places in "The Olympic Collection" or whatever it's called, but it's not a conveyor one.) You'll have to show it to me sometime! I always like to meet cool Angelenos. :)

Thanks again for the ride offer! I seem to be okay—fingers crossed! I'm both excited and very nervous about the upcoming weekend.
