*melts like something that thaws after having been hit with freeze lightning*

...wow, that's a terrible simile.

Anyway, despite my finding it EXTREMELY TRAUMATIZING to see current/childhood TV science idols be mean to Rodney McKay, that seriously had me squeeing and flailing with joy the whole way through. Anyone who would like to join me in that, I would love to create a chorus of "awwww"s with you here. And, um, if you don't...please let me have my moment?

Universally, I think I am going to take to snapping "Not now, Nye!" at people whenever I am (fake) annoyed at them. Siria, Wychwood, Korax, everyone—be on guard!

ETA, having read my flist, an existential question: Wow, what is the sound of one squee squeeing?

Yay! A couple more and we can form a squee band. (I feel this would be like a ska band somehow.)

Squees and flails and awwws.

I may have, um, created a filter to aid me in having my moment.

Bill Nye slapped Dave Foley. My life feels complete now.

I would like to create an endless reel of Bill Nye slapping Dave Foley and Keller saying, "Not now, Nye!"

...with maybe some shots of Rodney and Jennifer making out thrown in every couple loops.

I do not get Rodney and Jennifer together BUT, I will say this - I enjoy watching Rodney kiss people a lot *beams*

Ooh! Ooh! I have a suggestion for the movie! Here it is: Everyone makes out. A lot. Like the type of high school party neither Rodney nor I was invited to! Then something can get blown up so the SFX people can get their jollies, and then everyone can make out some more. IT IS GENIUS, NO?

I LOVE THIS IDEA.

Seriously, I would buy out a movie theatre to watch that. Over and over. And over. And possibly over again. I particularly like the blowing up part? Because then we have the possibility of hurt/comfort making out afterwards.

Yes, see, that is the thing: the making out has LEVELS. It has DEPTH. At the beginning of the movie it sweetly tentative and a little awkward, but it slowly increases in passion, and then later it is all relieved: tender and fierce at the same time.

Also at some point there may be a musical montage.

can the montage be of people laughing? Because that would be like, SGA crack. Everyone busting a gut at everyone else.

And then they make out.

As long as John's laugh is IN NO WAY AUDIBLE, I am pro!

Back-up plan: everyone else can dogpile on John and make out with him to stop him laughing. *nods thoughtfully*

Lol, I went to a geek magnet school. That's what our parties were like. There'd be lots of making out, and then someone would go "oh man, you know what would be awesome? Explosions!" and we'd all get distracted. it was awesome.

I'm with Cate! I did enjoy the episode and I liked the date and the kissing.

But if I hear one more person say how they grew up with Bill Nye, me and Mr. Wizard are going to go have to crawl in a hole and die of old age. If Mr. Wizard hasn't already. Oh god.

I rather enjoyed it. It was a little off putting that we were supposed to buy that Jennifer was ready to join the Mile High Club after hypothermia, CPR(from what I've been told, that HURTS), and never having even made out with Rodney before(I'm assuming this because this was their first date). Aside from that, though, I liked this episode.

I join your squee! I thought the episode was fun, and Rodney & Jennifer are cute together. AND Rodney got to do *both* the geek rescue thing and the manly ActionHero! rescue thing with the axe this time--'cause Ronon and John and Teyla stayed home. My only complaint about the episode--I missed the rest of the Team.

Bill Nye, slapping Foley was a perfect moment.

Jennifer being schoolteacher-mom and making all the brilliant, petty scientists behave was awesome.

And let me just add Rodney can indeed carry off a bow tie!

I liked it! I would have loved it except for the L-word thing (which I think was way too early - first date? hello?), but even that I am willing to overlook because I thought the whole thing was a ROMP. :-)

I rather liked the f-u physicist saying to Nye 'check my math!' and Nye replying 'why do you think I've been standing here?!?!?!?'

Now, mind, I'm going to the land of OT3: McSheppEr. :)

I thought it was a lot of fun. I love Neil deGrasse Tyson! "Not now, Nye!" sounds like an extremely useful phrase.

And Rodney looked repeatedly extremely hot, when he was runnng around without his jacket on!

I enjoyed it! I did! Rodney and Keller (I find it hard to call her Jennifer because that's my name) are adorable.

Also - John and Ronon are camping while Rodney is away? *dies laughing* I can't imagine John will have a happy look on his face when Keller and Rodney are all 'we're a couple!' *pets his Elfin head*

As an outsider - Bill Nye and that aren't as squee inducing, though I do know who they are from American flisters. I did just about bust a gut laughing when Bill Nye slapped Dave Foley, though. Also! The Stephen Hawking allusion was hilarious - 'I'm going to freeze to my chair' - though, probably incredibly bad taste.

In conclusion: squee!!

I thought the ep was a whole lot of fun (Bill Nye!!) and for the first time I thought Jennifer and Rodney were kind of cute. But now I want to pretend it never happened. ::handwaves::

Can we go back to John and Rodney flirting with each other please?
