Mmm, mp3s...
Nov. 2nd, 2005 04:35 pmOkay, LJ ate my last attempt to post this. Trying again...
Holy moly, it's something SGA-related that my non-SGA friends might actually be interested in! Quelle shock!
But yeah, basically I posted a S1 mix over at

Date: 2005-11-02 04:46 pm (UTC)I'm highly aware that this is not what people wanted to hear, but...

Date: 2005-11-02 05:09 pm (UTC)And OT: not to be all weird and pressure-y, 'cause I know you probably don't care about SGA, but if you have a chance, I'd love to hear what you think of Dæmonology (http://www.livejournal.com/users/trinityofone/25344.html#cutid1), the SGA/HDM story I wrote. What with your being my former instructor on the subject, and all. ;-) (No, seriously. I took some liberties with the HDM canon, and I'm really curious as to what you'd think.)
Okay... *runs away*

Date: 2005-11-03 05:01 am (UTC)It bothers me that the taboo was so easily broken--for me that's the beauty of the taboo, that in absolutely no situation, however dire, can it be broken. The heartwrench of it! That said, the suggestion of studying daemons piqued my interest. That was the anthropologist in me saying, "It's cultural! Of course the taboo can be broken, it's not essential to the state of humanity!" But then the method of 'studying' was not what I had hoped it to be--proving by acclimatization rather than empirical evidence. So I would have liked to see more science-of-the-daemon before the proposition, and because you have an incredible mind for this type of thing you would surely be able to write what would suit my needs. I recognize that I'm being selfish and that doing this would pretty much undermine the purpose of your story (it sounds like I don't but I do) but that's what I would have liked to see.
As always, I enjoy reading your fiction (especially when I know what it's based on), but I must also berate you for spending time at your computer when there's life in a new exciting place to be lived! Things to see! People to do! Get on it!

Date: 2005-11-04 05:52 pm (UTC)Anyway, thank you again to taking the time for something in which half the canon was a mystery to you. With fanfic, I have a tendency to write and move on--what's the point of revision?--but I very much agree with a lot of your points, and if I ever write anything else in this hybrid 'verse, I'll definitely keep them in mind.
