I am currently responding to fic comments like a good (repentant) LJer, but I need something to distract me every once in a while or my brain will atrophy. So here's a little participatory meme-thingy (snagged from [livejournal.com profile] boysnoggage):

1. Post a list of up to 20 books/movies/anime/TV shows/video games/etc. that you've had an obsessive fannish love of at some time in your life.
2. Have your friends list guess your favourite character from each item.

1. Stargate: Atlantis - Rodney McKay ([livejournal.com profile] wychwood)
2. Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Spike ([livejournal.com profile] ilgattopardo)
3. Angel the Series - Wesley Wyndam-Pryce ([livejournal.com profile] wychwood)
4. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Ford Prefect ([livejournal.com profile] wychwood)
5. The Chronicles of Narnia - Edmund Pevensie ([livejournal.com profile] soupytwist)
6. The X-Files - Fox Mulder ([livejournal.com profile] wychwood)
7. Star Wars - Han Solo ([livejournal.com profile] ilgattopardo)
8. Good Omens - Crowley ([livejournal.com profile] wychwood)
9. Neverwhere - Richard Mayhew ([livejournal.com profile] wychwood)
10. The Aubrey/Maturin Books - Stephen Maturin ([livejournal.com profile] wychwood)
11. His Dark Materials - Will Parry ([livejournal.com profile] wychwood)
12. Preacher - Cassidy ([livejournal.com profile] smittywing)
13. Sandman - Hob Gadling ([livejournal.com profile] 20thcenturyvole)
14. Red Dwarf - Arnold Rimmer ([livejournal.com profile] 20thcenturyvole)
15. The Dark Tower - Eddie Dean ([livejournal.com profile] soupytwist)
16. Queer as Folk (US) - Brian Kinney ([livejournal.com profile] godofwine)
17. Calvin and Hobbes - Hobbes ([livejournal.com profile] wychwood)
18. Veronica Mars - Logan Echolls ([livejournal.com profile] wychwood)
19. X-Men - Wolverine ([livejournal.com profile] ilgattopardo)
20. The Legendary Lymond Chronicles - Francis Crawford of Lymond ([livejournal.com profile] siegeofangels)

ETA: Oh, God. I just realized something terrible about the answers to this meme. Let me know if you catch it, too. *is a horrible person*
ETA2: [livejournal.com profile] jarsy got it: They're all men. That...says some interesting things, doesn't it? *hangs head in SHAME*
ETA3: Done! Good work, people! I may be a misogynist bastard, but at least I have smart friends! *vbeg*

Or! Tell me stuff! Ask me questions! Entertaaaaaaaain me!

[/patheticness] <--Oh, who am I kidding? Like that ever really ends.

I am so lazy, what is the terrible thing about the answers? Whom you fancy?

Yes, a specific trait they all share. I will explain in more detail once some more (any!) people guess.

And did I mention that just like the doctor in "My Hero" I am always here?

Oh, shame. I fail to get that reference. *hangs head*

Still: that is a cool skill if you have it. Cool, and kinda creepy.

What was the quiz?

Well, obviously the Rod is your god/over-lord ;P so I wonder if they are all loud or bitchy? Intellectual and odd?

Not to worry, it's a British - hey, no, you SHOULD be ashamed, it has Dougal in it after all! Playing a young super-hero, naive and friendly, come to Earth and falling for a nurse, who works for a vain stupid doc who's catch phrase on his TV show is "I - am always here" (ka-ching).

I'm not sure I'll find it again. It was one of the free online ones, 10 questions, 4 answers to tick for each, and people had no clue *sighs*

Obviously. And the idea of calling him "The Rod" is both hilarious and awful and... *tries to laugh and cringe simultaneously*

I wonder if they are all loud or bitchy? Intellectual and odd?

No, I wish it were something that innocuous. But it's far more sinister, I'm afraid. [/melodrama]

Oh, I think I read about that in SFX. But hey, if it's not out on DVD in the U.S., I absolve myself of responsibility! Well...partially.

Oh, yeah. I think I did one of those, too. My friends also failed miserably. *g*

Mission accomplished *cackles* Did I mention Little Rodney? Sexin' the Rod? Are you ready to leave the internet and get back to work?

More sinister? I don't think they all destroyed a galaxy, because Maturin never left Earth? And you all wanting to "do" them cannot be sinister?

"My Hero" is a twee show, but still often hilarious (http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/guide/articles/m/myhero_66602550.shtml). I'm sure it was on BBC America, as friends saw it. Although sadly too many people take my icon without the intended irony

Now go and change that "as me" to something else, or I can't stop thinking dirty thoughts.

Friends, pffft.
Still, they were too clever, thems questions. I threw out my drafts (yes, I draft polls) the other day and now regret it, since I didn't bookmark the quiz.

Never! Also: ahhhhhhh!

More sinister? I don't think they all destroyed a galaxy, because Maturin never left Earth?

Well, he did in one of [livejournal.com profile] astolat's fics. ;-) But no, it is, as [livejournal.com profile] jarsy guessed, that they're all men. How awful is that?

Now go and change that "as me" to something else, or I can't stop thinking dirty thoughts.

Oops. What a difference a letter makes, eh?

"they're all men. How awful is that?"
...
- not as awful as the thought that they might NOT all be never even entering my mind?

And since I think I never told you: I love the colours of your journal. I am scared by Saint Rodney, but those musted reds and oranges are just lovely.

Okay, spill. *dies of curiosity*

Oh, thank you! I just redesigned it, so that's great to hear. Of course, by "redesigned" I mean "selected the 'Eclipse' theme," but, uh...at least I have good taste?

And don't let Saint Rodney scare you; he's here to SAVE YOUR SOUL. *g*

Erm, that was it already - sorry if my sentence was confusing. I just always presumed you'd only choose men *sheepish*

Heh, I vaguely remember "Eclipse" but with a different layout, I guess. Those colours or rather tones are my favourites, with the green of my LJ and the blue of my friends-page. I really should redo mine befor the account runs out, but it's so much hard-to-understand work.

Oh no, he never is, Saint Rodney, as IF! I only accept it if it's used like Saint Sam (knows it all ;P). I saw your Devil John *glares* and now want to know why you call yourself God? Or does your username mean something else *g*

Oh, duh. Makes perfect sense now. Like one of those optical illusions where it's a pair of faces...and then BANG! It's a vase!

now want to know why you call yourself God? Or does your username mean something else

The icons actually came way later (credit/blame to [livejournal.com profile] newkidfan), although I love that the above is now a possible interpretation. *eg* No, my username is because this was supposed to be my "Year in Ireland" journal; as in, "One perspective on Trinity"--my school. But it got hijacked by my fannish interests. ;-)

And I know that Rodney is no saint, and greatly prefer him that way. But I am writing an AU where Rodney Is the Crankiest Angel, so... *g* It's irony, baby. Though even in canon, John is delightfully devilish. *vbeg*

Yes, just like that vase thing! I fear most of my sentences have that erm unique vase-effect.

Oh duh, Trinity, of course.

I can so imagine him in his big white nighty, tapping his sandalled foot, more Roman Emperor than nice angel, and John being a non-evil, smart devil ... which leads me right back to Crowley and Aziraphael, btw :)

The summary for the story (which I really need to finish, BTW) is "Heaven and Hell's North American representatives have an Arrangement, too." It's basically "John and Rodney do Good Omens." *eg*
