Hey - in fact, judging by what you say above - have you ever read anything by Lois McMaster Bujold? Because if not, you should go - run, don't walk - to your nearest bookshop, and buy Shards of Honour (or possibly Cordelia's Honour, which is an alternative name for the first two books together). She is an awesome writer, and her female characters are fantastic. As and when I do this meme, there will be at least one female there on her account.

Also, I win at spamming your journal guessing! I hadn't realised I'd been quite so greedy, I guessed, like, half of those!
