Rioting in Dublin

This is what's going on. I haven't been out of my room, so I haven't seen anything first hand, but siriaeve came into town for some innocent shoe-shopping and got caught up in it. She's safe with me now, but she explains what's happening much more clearly.

We are both fine. We're in my room at college, and Trinity's behind a big fuck-off wall. We're fine.

niannah, lil_nibbler, any other Dublin people--are you all okay?

This is not something I expected to have happen today.

I'm so glad you guys are okay. And... my husband is in Dublin again right now, and now I'm freaking out a little.

Don't freak out! I'm sure he's fine; I think it's calmed down, and I haven't heard anything about anyone not involved with the march/protest getting hurt, except for some police. Is there anything I can do from this end to help or reassure you?

Well, his hotel, and the office they're working out of, are both well south of the city center, so I'm mostly positive he's nowhere near it. Hell, he might not even know it's happening. *g* I'd just like to be completely positive, y'know?

Everything seems to be over; people are out in the streets, going to the pub again. Have you heard from your husband? I hope the last few hours haven't been too tense for you.

Yes! He called me, and he's fine. Though, apparently, they had the afternoon off, and they had been wandering around your part of town. *eyeroll* He told me they got close enough to see barricades and the riot squad, with their dogs and horses and all, and at one point, they were across the street from your giant fuck-off walls, though he didn't tell me where.

So, on the one hand, my concern was justified, it seems! *g* But they're all fine, so, not so much.
