Okay. It's over. Has been for several hours. When the people on the radio went back to discussing rugby non-stop, [livejournal.com profile] siriaeve and I ventured outside. We saw some shops along Nassau Street with smashed and boarded-up windows (Oasis! Noooooooooo!) but there were plenty of people about, and things seem to be going back to normal. Almost like nothing happened.

Thank you to everybody who wished us well. It was good, it's always good, just knowing you guys are there.

On a larger scale, the last I heard, some people have been hospitalized, but nobody was killed, so it definitely could have been a lot worse. As for me, I'm shaky and tired, but I think the "we survived a riot" McDonald's food that Siria and I got did more damage to my person than anything else today.

Now...where is the new SGA porn? I could really use some porn, dammit.

Have no porn to offer, sadly, but I'm glad it's calmed down.

did my email make it past the rioters? I wasn't sure if it would actually get through to you because the attachments were quite large

Oasis is smashed?? I hope it was in protest against their unreasonably high prices!! Otherwise I am glad all is again well.

At least my office is on the second floor.

Clearly Cork is out of some loop somewhere since this is the first I've heard of it. ^_^ (or it could be the gay-porn watching that took up the TV time today. :))

I'm glad you and your friends are okay! Eeep.

I'm glad you guys are okay!

I miss you, and sometimes I think I see your curly-haired head around campus. Too bad you can't be here to graduate with the rest of us.

Love ya.

Eeep! I'm glad you're okay, and that no-one was hurt. After something like that, you deserve McDonald's.

Also, for some reason, I can't read the last line of your post without imagining it in Rodney's voice. Which... yeah.

Heh. You've heard the David Hewlett "Oh, wicked--this is all porn!" thing, right?

Well, I'm glad everything's alright. You'd probably be surprised to find I had to looking for the article on the State's version of Yahoo!, there was minimal coverage over it, which is pathetic.

Anyway, I've been lurking around your journal for a bit, reading your SGA stuff, but I'd like to ask you about something concering school- I'm living in America, but would like to go to Glasgow Uni. I just wanted to see what it was like for you going into a international college from America, and what to expect and whatnot. Is that okay?

Thanks- twilight

No, there was minimal coverage of it EVERYWHERE. On the BBC site, it was misfiled under the UK: Northern Ireland section (um, it may have involved people from Northern Ireland, but it still took place here), and on both CNN and MSNBC, stories about putting a giraffe on birth control were apparently considered more important. Le sigh. Where is the concern for Ireland? Where is the love?

I just wanted to see what it was like for you going into a international college from America, and what to expect and whatnot. Is that okay?

Of course that's okay! I'm not sure if I'm the best person to ask, however--I'm only doing a one-year study abroad program; I'm enrolled at Trinity through Berkeley, which is quite different. If--and please let me know if I'm misinterpreting what you're saying--you're thinking of attending an international school for your undergraduate work, a better person to talk to might be, say, [livejournal.com profile] randomeliza, who's doing just that, and in Scotland, too! But otherwise: feel free to ask me any questions, and I'll do my best to answer.

Yeah, we were down in Waterford when this happened.

We were planning on going to Dublin, but didn“t because of the distance.

Maybe next time.
