•I owe several people e-mails, but I'm feeling really icky and anti-social and depressed, so please forgive me for not having gotten back to you yet. However, if you haven't heard from me by tomorrow, please feel free to kick me.

•It's my birthday in 13 days. Ugh.

•I need distraction. Comment with a prompt, and there's a fairly good chance I'll write you a drabble.

•Now to the microwave, away!

The Best Medicine

*nods* I always just tell myself that I have an artistic temperament. (And hells yes, I would love a drabble! SGA, natch. Do you want a prompt?)

Here's yours:

***

“You never laugh,” Rodney says.

John’s mouth: a quirk. “Course I do.”

“No. You smirk. You snicker. You don’t laugh.”

“You want me to guffaw? All right, tell a joke.”

“A joke?”

“Yeah. Make a funny, Rodney.”

Rodney’s eyes narrow. He’s too clever for this.

“Knock knock—” he says, and before John can say, “Who’s there?” he’s tackling him, tickling him. But John’s too clever for that, and a second later, he’s rolled them off the bed: a tangled mess of limbs, panting, on the floor.

“You’re still not laughing!” Rodney complains.

“Oh, I am,” John promises. “On the inside.”

*does the dance of highest joy*

That is so very cool. It's a soft moment, and John is enigmatic and sweet and... Hee. You even managed to invoke a Ninja Turtles reference. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I would very much enjoy a prompt. This shall be a tailored drabble, after all *g* What would you like, milady?

Hmm. Prompt. How about this song (http://www.sendspace.com/file/dte1km)...only, y'know, slashy somehow. *is weird*

You even managed to invoke a Ninja Turtles reference.

I did? *is completely clueless* Well...go me!

No, seriously, I'm glad you liked it. [livejournal.com profile] siriaeve's fault, as usual--we were talking about how John laughs a lot in fic, but if he ever did it on screen, it might possibly be creepy. ;-)

God help me: A prelude to skirt!porn.

One of the Turtles movies features a large, animatronic, dignified rat speaking the words, 'Ha ha. I made a funny.'

I'm easily amused. *g*

As furthur proof: the below drabble is the cop-out, far-too-obvious response to the song. I'm going to try for a deeper take on it later, though. Thought you might get a kick out of this one in the meantime.

*******

“You laugh, you die.”

Rodney raised his hands. “Not a peep.” His lips twitched.

“Next time, you’re the diplomatic sacrifice.” He tugged the hem lower.

“Really, the kole is quite… attractive.”

Sheppard eyed his boxers longingly. “You’d think these guys would adapt a little. It’s too damn cold to be a Ten Commandments reject.”

“It’s ceremonial. Plus, the alternative is sand.” A meaningful look at the boxers.

Rodney was flirting with the phrase ‘almost pretty’ – and possibly death – when Sheppard strapped his knife in place. On his thigh. High.

Rodney was suddenly very glad for large hands. Among other things.

Oh, I'm getting a big kick! I mean, the mental image alone...'cause see, that's the scary thing: John is such a pretty man that the leap to, well. It's like Cillian Murphy in Breakfast on Pluto or Gael Garcia Bernal in Bad Education--so wrong, but also so, so hot.

Thank you for this! *grins wickedly*
