Things I love:

1. The person who got me the balloons for my profile, with the note, Thank you for thinking I'm awesome! Love, David Hewlett's Ass.

2. [livejournal.com profile] spaggel, and her illustration of Rodney's Wraith Sex Ed Class.

3. Ralph the elephant.

4. [livejournal.com profile] wychwood. She knows why.

5. [livejournal.com profile] amireal. She should also know why.

Things I'm not so keen on:

1. Myself, at the moment. I am out of food. I am almost out of tea. Why have I not gone to the grocery store? GET OFF YOUR ASS AND GO!

2. Um, same as number one, but due to my brilliant decision to leave [livejournal.com profile] remixredux to the last minute. Smart, self! However, I think I've managed to scrape something together. Would anybody be willing to beta it for me? *looks pathetic and hungry*

3. The three essays I haven't written. I know it's not really their fault: they don't even exist yet. Still: *hates them*

When are the Remix fics due in? I'd love to help beta, but I have a busy week coming up so if it's urgent... maybe not. (And wow, can I sympathise on the three-essays-not-written front. I have an essay due on TS Eliot and given that my laptop just died completely, I'm going to be spending far too much time on the library computers. *sigh*)

They're due tomorrow, so I completely understand if you want to run screaming now. *g* The story is less than 1200 words, however.

Eliot! Well, that gets a yay, but an essay (on him, on anything) and a broken computer? Yikes. *opens two-way empathy current between us*

Eek. I'm normally pretty good at last-minute beta jobs, but it's probably not the best idea to try while I'm stuck on a library computer as well. Perhaps next time. *g*

(If it's any help, the main reason I didn't sign up for Remix myself is I had a feeling I'd leave it to the last minute and end up panicking over trying to write 1,000 words in one night. So you're definitely not alone there!)

I'll beta, mail to the usual.

Need you to reciprocate some time next week, if you've got time!

Ah, time. Well: probably-hopefully, if it's before my friends come to visit from California.

Thanks for offering to beta mine. I'll send it to you in a few.

*sigh*

Okay, when you mail tell me how quickly you need a reply, *reads up on what that redux is anyway* and you could already send me the original text you remixed. *twiddles thumbs and is bored by all her reading matter*

Yeah! I uploaded a few tracks (http://trinityofone.livejournal.com/54065.html) a while back; let me know if they're not still working, and I can put 'em up again.

A tea shortage is one of the worst things imaginable. I'm getting shaky just thinking about it.

I was able to get the first one, it's cool. Thanks.

I can't NOT have tea in the house. I've been known to drive up to the servo at midnight just to get some. Normally I make sure I have a spare box though.

Well, that's where I was about...four hours ago. You can do it! You can knock out a mediocre* story in no time!

Um, I am SO right there with you. I'll manage to get 1000 words out of this, but barely. I'm so not the brightest crayon in the box. *sigh*

And I'd totally offer to beta it, except that I think you probably already have enough, and I've got two essays due next week I should be working on besides RemixRedux. Again with the poor time-management skills.

No yet get! Maybe my mail program is just being stupid?

Unless you mean more of you-know-what in comments; I did happily see that, and will respond once I am finished beating my head against [livejournal.com profile] remixredux.

Good luck tonight!

That's what I meant, I wrote that before my brain was awake enough to proccess the rest of your post. i.e. OMG I AM NOT THE PRIORITY! *CRIES*

I leave as soon as I get dressed and snag a bagel. Probably not back till 7:30 EST.

So no actual conversation, just a few back and forths.

*sad*

But tommorrow! TOMORROW IS ANOTHER DAY!

Are you actually unconscious, or around? Because I, being the 100% responsible person that I am, just got back from the movies *cough* but would be willing to put in an hour or so now, if you're up for it...

2. *facepalm* Remind me of the story. I uh... vague rememberances, that's it. I am SUCH a slacker.

"The Gift of the Magi" is the O. Henry story--or, I should really say, the "Oh, irony!" story--in which there's a young couple with no money at Christmas, and the man sells his watch to buy the woman a set of hair combs and the woman sells her hair to buy the man a watch fob. (Full text here (http://www.auburn.edu/~vestmon/Gift_of_the_Magi.html).) So I was amused, first by David and John wanting aspects of each other's worlds that don't mesh, that can't belong together, and then by us just missing each other. I'm weird. *g*

YES SCRUBS OMG!
