*[livejournal.com profile] siriaeve once again wins at EVERYTHING. She made me JF icons from caps of First Monday (ahh, [livejournal.com profile] coreopsis, my evil plan worked!), possibly for use in AU Professor Sheppard fantasies. I'm almost willing to forgive her her recent habit of calling JF "The Flan." *g*

Especially because of this:

Trin: I can't stop listening to Dido, SAVE ME PLEASE!

Siria: WHAT WHY TRIN NO STEP AWAY FROM THE BAD RODNEY WOULD NOT APPROVE.

Trin: It's just this one song! The lyrics are secretly evil! *whimpers*

Siria: Oh, you say that now. But this is probably just a gateway song. Soon, you'll have the Easy Listening station on your radio, and you'll be finding Carson the hottest man on Atlantis (because he's just so asexual! My mam'd love him!) and then missy, then we'd have to have words.

Trin: Now I want someone to rise to the near-impossible task of maniping a picture of Lisa Simpson reading Non-Threatening Boys Monthly or whatever that magazine was called with Carson's head on the cover. *vbeg*

Siria: *snerks* If I had the Photoshop skills and the Simpsons screencaps, I'd totally do it. Because you know that Carson would be the poster boy, and you could join the Carson Beckett fan-club and get a little packet of stickers and a badge and a yearly newsletter in return. The newsletter would be full of things like 'nice things you can do for your mammy' and 'yum recipes for scones' and '101 ways to screw up ethically when a doctor.'

Flist! Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find that cap! The world needs that image, man. It does, it does.

Disclaimer (once more quoting Siria): *pets Carson* It's okay, we like you really.

Other random point of brilliance: [livejournal.com profile] _inbetween_ has discovered that Callum Keith Rennie should have played John Constantine. And not Keanu Reeves. May I emphasize? AND NOT KEANU REEVES. Thank you.

Finally, a poll:

[Poll #718144]

HE IS A DOCTOR. HE DESERVES RESPECT.

You crazy. I am laughing so hard I'm wheezing, and this is a bad thing when one is IN THE LIBRARY AND MUST BE QUIET.

Maybe I should just give the studying thing a rest and go in search of TEA. Because the Flan has ruined me for study tonight. RUINED.

If it makes you feel better, I currently only have 2,417 words of the BatC sequel, versus 3,729 of the HV one. Though they're both sort of kicking my ass. *sad*

It means something completely different here in the British Isles! Siria and I had a cultural "bwah?" moment the other day (like the time she kept asking me to get a cup out of the press) and we were much agog.

Your version sounds way nicer to me, actually. In my mind, flan shall forever have the connotation of "that dessert which someone will invariably try to make you eat after you've already had way too much Mexican food."

I found a couple of caps of the magazine cover here (http://www.duffzone.co.uk/framegrab_script.php?img=9f12/02042004204910.jpg) and here (http://www.duffzone.co.uk/framegrab_script.php?img=7f14/08292004104924.jpg). Unfortunately they're small and the quality sucks, so they won't be much good for manipping with. The episodes these two came from are Brother From Another Planet and Another Simpsons Clip Show (which probably means this is from yet another ep, but all I have to go on is what Google offered up) in case anyone out there has the DVDs and wants to grab some caps for you.

I am procrastinating, so naturally I put some suggestions in the text box, even though I didn't say I did.

Superstarverse...the one with the Leather Pants verse... Hotassverse! What? I am being *so* helpful here. Name it after a U2 song... Flyverse (heh)... Lemonverse...Numbverse... Achtung Baby! You could call it Where The Streets Have No Name. Yis.

I have no idea what you should call your Four Quaters verse, except that perhaps 'Jumperverse' is not the best title, since in Australia, 'Jumper' = sweater, and I'm getting a mental image of SGA in woolly jumpers, kind of like the Wiggles. (Hee!)
